A quick glance on Auto Trader you see that 2013 Corollas with 3 times the mileage (30,000) are priced in the 16,000-18,000 range (give or take).

You can buy a $15,000 car and finance it for 5 years at 5% interest rate for just about $300@month.

It's a 2013 Toyota Corolla. (not being mean, but you should know the model) Even a Corolla's sticker price (4 door, automatic) starts around $16,000...... $300 a month payment is too much for a $5,000 car. Like $100-$150 a month.

You had a car for 28 years??? Holy smokes! I'd buy another Nissan if I had that good of an experience with it! Congrats on getting a new car that you love! May it last as long as your last one!

Emma: My Nissan was still running strong for 15 years but unfortunately the inspection didn't pass because of undercarriage deterioration. I miss that car.

Yuban: Enjoy your new car.

The cars I have have had lasted well over 20 years (myself owning it and the others). They were bought used.

Hi Cakers! I had a Ford Explorer for 10 years......then gave it to my son who had it for another 8 years without having to have much work done during that time. So I don't think 15 to 20 years is unheard of........but 28 years is a long time for a car! Nissan's must be pretty darned well made!

Buying rentals cars is good. My sister lives in Hawaii where there are a plethora of them. They buy all their cars that way. Another good tip for how to get a good deal on a vehicle is to do your research ahead of time, know what the car you want is worth. Then go in right before the end of the month when their monthly quotas are tallied. They want that extra sale for the month. One time, I bought a car at the end of December, right before the new year. I told them what I wanted, what I would pay, and that I was going to purchase a car THAT day from someone. It was a Nissan, brand new, and the previous years model. They needed to clear their lot of those cars to make room for the new year models. We never mentioned monthly payments, just price.

I'm not in the market now. I bought my car last year.

My post was meant to show what a 2013 Corolla is going for in the marketplace.

Financing a used car for 5 years is too long, IMO.
