I finally got the 1st dose today.  DD got her's last Friday.

For weeks there were no appointments available. Now on the local news tonight they have plenty of vaccine and no people for 1st shots. People are also skipping their 2nd shots.  Go figure.

I got thinking that after I'm fully vaccinated there goes my excuse for turning down invitations for stuff I don't want to do. lol

I know, @CrazyKittyLvr2 .  I've already fibbed about the timeline for getting my second shot so I could put off a family obligation that I don't look forward to.

I was very pleased when I had the opportunity to get the vaccine.  It seems there's a bit of nonchalance out there about following up with the 2nd, and even about getting it at all.  We travelled about 30 miles but the site was very well-organized and I have a copy of the health dept. record now so I can let my other providers know (besides having a vaccination card).

Went to my hair dresser yesterday.  Asked him if he got his shot and it's no.  Not interested!  His wife doesn't have it either (she's a hair stylist too)  My brother in Law refuses to get his. After delaying and delaying, my husband finally has an appointment. I've even asked my shoppers and they haven't either.  They are in their late teens and 20's. They still wear masks, etc.  I suspect one reason is the side effects.  First they asked me is what kind of side effect did I have.

@CrazyKittyLvr2,  perhaps you could adopt my position--I will continue as I have been until my county goes six weeks without a new case.

In Arizona anybody can get a shot anytime they want. No appointments necessary. Just walk or drive in.

@songbird Was he wearing a mask? It would annoy me for a person who works with the  public like that to not get the vaccine and not wear a mask. Glad you got your first shot.

@Marp   I am not sure what you mean - can I assume you are doing what you feel is safe when you want to participate and using the infection rate to avoid offending someone you don't want to upset?

That's quite close to what I think I should be doing. There are parts of my old normal I realize I have been living very easily without.

@KCDiva   Yes he does wear a mask.  He's a really good hair stylist.  And he has customers!  I've been going to him for years.  (not counting the early pandemic when we had to stay away from hair places)  I never developed COVID from him or anyone else for that matter..  I always wear a mask.  Apparently none of his customers did.  Anyway by the time I go back, (I only use him to put highlights in my hair  about every 6 weeks) I will be fully vaccinated..  But yes, I am concerned about the reluctance of some people to get vaccinated.

@millieshops,  essentially I will continue to wear a mask, social distance, etc. until my county has no new cases for a period of six weeks.

I live in an area that has a lot of tourists/hikers/part time residents during the warm months so I will continue to avoid non-family gatherings, crowded stores/venues, etc.

@Marp I am with you. I have no intention of going out without a mask anytime in the near future. I'm fine wearing one and so many people are not getting the vaccine I don't think I'll be letting my guard down.
