Another similarly boneheaded thing I do - I have the TV on for much of the day.   Several times a day, as soon as a segment ends and a comercial segment begins, I instantly forget what I was watching.  Usually, it comes back pretty quickly but often I have to FF through the commercial segment to the next show segment to recall what I was watching.

THIS happens to me too but I thought I was the only one!!!!!!   LOL!!!!!

Bah Baaaaaahm. That's just the sound of my rear turning on Netflix again. lol

Hey Darlin!  Smiley Happy

You remind me of something with the husband, who either loses or breaks pretty much everything, so, needless to say, he has his things and I have my things.

So many times he would sit on his glasses or something else breakable.   I kept asking him what I thought was a simple question - Why do you keep putting things where you are likely to sit?

Of course, there is no answer.  *sigh*

Hope this finds you well.

@Lindsays Grandma

Supposedly crossing a threshold i.e. going from one room to another has some effect on memory. Go back to the original room and then it's easier to remember what you forgot. A lot of walking lol.

Even as a kid this would happen to me. 60+ years ago my mother would tell me to go back to the place where I first thought of it. Sure enough, it works

And this can happen without crossing a threshold. I'll go to the stove for something, and stand there looking.

Potholder? Tongs? What did I want?

Step back to the other side of the kitchen and "Oh yeah! "

Re: I GET SO ANNOYED WHEN...

Been happening for years.

I've even gone so far as to get to the basement, knowing I was headed down there for a purpose, forgot what I wanted by the time I get there.

I stopped running up and down the steps, and now I sit down on the bottom step and stay there till I remember. LOL

I've also started making more lists. Sometimes I go to the basement for 8 or 10 things (usually food, we store most of our food down there) and I will inevitably come up without everything I needed if I don't make a list before I go!

I'm know to go to a specific location in the house to retrieve something, and open the wrong thing, like the fridge, when I'm really wanting in the cabinet right beside the fridge. I realize it mid act, but I still do it.

Aging? Mind full of other thoughts? Lack of focus? Don't know, but so far I haven't gone out for the day and forgot where I was going or how to get home, so I'm good for now!

Re: I GET SO ANNOYED WHEN...

I can go full circle.  Start something in one room, come upon something else, finish that, go do something else, a few different times, then end up in the room I started in, go, "oh yeah" and finish that.  I'd call it my 12 steps to complete my thing.   Never sure what all that involves.Woman LOL

If anybody here is psychic, maybe you can help me find my knife sharpener.  I've been looking for it for a few weeks now.   It's not like it's microscopic.  It's one of those Chef's Choice knife sharpeners and it's in a Lock & Lock along with the user manual.

There aren't that many places it could be!  Yet, I've looked through the kitchen a zillion times and also in other parts of my house several times.

I really need to sharpen some knives and I can't just buy another one (they aren't cheap!).   Smiley Sad

Possibly the garage or office?  Maybe you were going to sharpen a pair of scissors or a garden tool?

Thanks for the suggestions!  Well, TBH, I'm a bit of a primadonna about 'outside work'.  I just flat don't do it.    What's making me crazy is that there is no possible way that it is in any other room than the kitchen.  I've never used it on scissors.  That's probably because I have so many pairs (at least one pair in practically every room) that I've never had to sharpen a pair.

I'm still stumped.  If that weren't enough, I lost my hair comb.  Smiley Sad   I only put it in two places, both in my bedroom.  I'm weird like that because I know if I just place things haphazardly I'll lose them, so I have systems for everything now which includes where I put things.

ETA - I found my comb!  I'm so happy.  I can use a brush on dry hair but, obviously, you don't use a brush on wet hair so I really needed my comb.  yay.  Now if I only could find that darn knife sharpener.   Maybe today's the day so I'm going to search more.  Smiley Happy
