OMGosh!  I never thought I'd hear of someone else not trusting the backup cam.  Do you know that it either is or soon will be mandatory for ALL new cars to come with backup cameras?  They save lives and prevent accidents.

We've had a backup cam for over 14.5 years and DH still won't trust it.  The new car's backup cam has a lot wider field of view, side views and I don't know how, but a bird's eye view Smiley Surprised  How do they do that??

Tell your DH that I "BACK HIM UP", pun intended!  LOL!  😁

@monicakmMy new car is like a Flintstones car compared to that cruise ship you bought.  I could never deal with that.  All I want/need is a small, basic car.

But now it's brake assist, lane assist, this assist, that assist.......  The only assistance I need is assistance with the assistance!  LOL!

It's my "jam" (g)  Funny story...mom was in awe of my Googles and what they could do in the home.  After she bought a few, we were standing in her kitchen and she was wondering where she had put something.  She said "Hey Google, where did I put my (shoes)?"  My daughter and granddaughter died laughing.  It was funny as heck but I felt sorry for her and did my best not to laugh.  I may have snickered just a little bit.  She never got into smart home devices but liked them for playing music, asking questions, setting alarms and reminders.

cruise ship

Ah, it kinda feels like that.  I'll have to tell DH.  He loves cruises.  His nickname for our car is "stinkin' Lincoln".

@Kachina624That is a riot!  I had to buy a new car in the summer and STILL haven't figured out half of the fancy schmany things yet alone changing the clock.  Just give me A/C, power windows and a radio and I'm good!

If you bought it at a dealership, THEY have the responsibility to get you comfortable with the new ride.

If the salesperson isn't happy to have you come back in, speak to the manager ... or the owner.

Do not struggle on your own.

@LdyBugz,

@jlkz ,

I'm impressed too!

It took me over year to try it, and awhile to get used to it and not use the me turning around method.

But it's still not infallible. I was backing out of my garage and all in the yellow lines (I only have yellow and orange) and my side mirror on the passenger side clonked the side of the garage. I thought wait! I was in the yellow lines!

I also don't understand the dotted orange line before the solid one Does the dotted line mean I'm going to hit what I'm backing into or just a warning or what?

Sorry this is not about the time but since this was brought up, we might as well look into all these technical not very simple things that are supposed to improve our lives, but can cause lots of aggravation trying to figure them out!Woman Frustrated

When I got my 2024 Subaru, I had to return to the dealer a few days later to take a "class(es)".  Someone sat with me and went over how to use everything, especially the Apple car play.

I love the back up mirror.  Several cars ago, it was a little picture on my rear view mirror.  Now it's just about a movie screen!Woman Tongue  I haven't turned my head in about 2 years.

I have seen the newer back-up cameras and they are pretty amazing. Yes, like a movie screen and they show much more.

I did have a very nice lady explain to me about my car-a 2017 Honda Accord but once she started talking about blue tooth my eyes glazed over and I said no thanks.

I did ask for a manual-they called around and another dealer had 1 left! I was lucky cause I do use it.

I still like to read from a book or paper rather than a pdf which I'm not entirely sure what that is! Just 1 more thing I don't like to use if possible.

How about changing the time on watches since I have more than one. I get the time correct and then the date is wrong and I need to start over!
