I use them for salads in the winter after they've been in a bag a few days.  They have a better flavor than anything else here.

I'm thinking about getting a few tomato plants to grow on my back patio.

The squirrels and birds will applaud you!  Get some wire to put over them!

I was about to say that before you.  I just cannot get any tomatoes to the near-ripe stage before the birds peck holes all in them.

My back patio is screened in, luckily.

Re: I Don't Know About You, But I Can't Wait....

About a month ago I purchased greenhouse tomatoes from GA

They were much better than I expected and very much better than I've had in the past.

The tomatoes were red, a little bit juicy, not bland but not like a summer tomato

It was good on my sandwiches & salads.

We are now getting vine  ripe from FL

Still not quite as good as summer tomatoes but very good

One of the best things about summer is the fresh, farm bought tomatoes. So delicious at room temperature, sliced on multigrain bread with mayo. I could eat it every day; the perfect sandwich!

Re: I Don't Know About You, But I Can't Wait....

Last year my daughter put in a small square raised bed garden, filled it with potting soil and a bag of fertilizer soil and then added some osmacote to the mix. She got sooo many tomatoes and of course supplied me with some. THey were hands down the best tomatoes I have had  in years and years.  Ate them every single day alll summer long.

@ECBGWow! How lucky were you to grow up in such a beautiful place! Nothing better than loping up a hill on a great horse and then turning around to enjoy the view. 😊 Do you still ride?
