I Did It, I Tossed All My Make-up!

The days of putting make-up on and being pleased with how I looked are gone.  The last 5 years of stress and worry have taken a toll and all the make-up in the world won't help. I have aged more in the last 5 years than I did in the previous 65 yrs. put together.

This morning I chucked it all, except for 3 lip sticks. So it will be moisturizer and lip stick from here on out. I shudder to think how much money I just threw out.

DD asked me recently if I was going to ever wear "all this make-up that's just been sitting in the bathroom cabinet."

Surprisingly, with the exception of a lot of wasted money, it doesn't bother me. I never thought I would or could go without it.

You might want to try a tinted moisturizer, along with your lipstick.  🤷🏼‍♀️

My mom never wore any makeuo except a lipstick when she was going somewhere.  She had dark hair and eyes and nice skin, and didn't need anything else...she always looked pretty.

I tossed most of mine a few years ago, but not quite all of it.  I just use a touch of concealer occasionally with a lip balm or lipstick.  And honestly, most of the time I don't even bother with the concealer.

I've gotten so used to looking at myself without makeup that when I put it on, I think I look like a clown, even if I apply it minimally.

It's just not something that I concern myself with anymore.  I found it to be very freeing.

Not for me. I'd scare the birds out of the trees with my dark undereye shadows and less then perfect skin.  Not just make up we have to deal with.

Stray hairs here and there, brows, sparse lashes, etc.

Now you have more space in the cabinet. Anything that takes up space in my house that I don't use regularly, in my opinion, should be paying me rent. I try to banish everything else to Goodwill, the garbage, or very selectively the attic.

Re: I Did It, I Tossed All My Make-up!

My mom only wore lipstick as well. And she only had one signature brand/color.  She has to most beautiful silver hair which truly was her crowning glory.

I am 61 and find that I need less and less, but still something.  Also, I am working so I do need to look somewhat pulled together.  For me, the basics must include:

concealer, brows, some kind of brighenting shadow (with a simple application), tinted moisturizer, bronzer or blush.  I am terrible with lipstick (cant stand it) and do better with a tinted lip balm.

I am also a firm beleiver in products that are cruelty free, add treatment and good for my skin.

If it makes you happy, that's all that matters.
