What did you do with the dish?

DISH is who we had satellite TV with for 24 yrs.

Back when we started service with them they did not offer local channels. We had to install an antenna.

Yes, I understand that. But what did you do with the metal satellite dish after you cancelled service?

DISH wanted parts of it back or would charge us for them. DH had a guy that picks up scrap metal take it along with a few other things he needed to get rid of.

I know some people no longer have DISH but the satellite is still on a pole in their yard or on their roof.

@Nightowlz

I see other people around my neighborhood with old dishes on their properties, too. I need to take mine off the side of my house so the painters can paint my house soon.  If I leave it there then they will just paint around it. The wires look ugly.

@magicmoodz if you are going to be connect to your fiber optic with an Amazaon Firestick or Google Chromecast Device those usually come with some free streaming apps amd Hulu too. I bet if you do a search for shows you previously had recirded in cable, youll probably find them on your new services. If you list them, i could check if i can find them to let you know. I dont get Hulu however.

Or you can google those shows asking who streams their library.

Oh that is so nice of you. I think I have saved a real mish mash of "stuff". Musical concerts that were a one and done, All is Calm--a live musical production from Theater Latté da in Minneapolis about the 1914 truce that occurred on Christmas Eve. I watch it every holiday season and cry my eyes out, and then maybe (blushing) even a Hallmark movie or two that moved me.😀

The older I get the harder change is for me often thinking something's going to go wrong. This is so silly though. When I ordered the install the other day the rep said 60-70% of the owners in this building are connected to their internet. If I have any questions I am surrounded by resources.😀

Thank you for being so kind.

@ScrapHappy  I do not have Comcast for anything. AT&T is for my computer. Direct TV is for my TV. It just started yesterday and I will be saving $100 a month.

How do you like AT&T?  It's the only other choice in my area.  Most people I've heard from where I live say it's horrible and they don't like it.

@magicmoodz i looked up and All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 should be available through PBS Passport app. This app requires a subscription. It has a  Huge Library. I think i saw it is $60 a year or $5 a month.

This not to be confused with the regular PBS app which has limited library. Nor to be confused with the the PBS Channel you will get on YouTubeTV or Hulu i think hulu has it, not sure.

I know between Amazon's (free)  FreeVee and my YouTubeTV apps. I get like 4 Hallmark channels. Im sure any and all movies could be found.

I understand about learning a new system could be challenging but the fact you are going to be saving more than $200 a month wow and if you have any neighbors you are friends with could show you the ropes or hell even pay a techy once to come show you, its so worth it.

Im NOT exaggerating when i say i can now afford gasoline since switching. That is why im so passionate about it. Im in a financial struggle since having to take the job i have now at 32% pay cut and really not able to get a new one with the physical issues I currently have and home insurance in Florida tripling the last 3 years.my mortgage went from 512 to 838 because of home insurance escrow. I had to cut where i can and boy i got even MORE than i ever did with Comcast. I wish you happy cord cutting!

@ScrapHappy   Spectrum's internet with the package is $49.00.  If I drop Spectrum Cable the internet goes to $99.00...I would assume the cost would go up every year.

Same for me, have Comcast Triple Play, cable, internet and land line, will never give it up !!! Only use a cell for emergencies. We get free Peacock and NF with our Comcast.

I have internet service with Xfinity, that's all I have from them and I hate it. I've been tracking the number of days (in minutes and hours) that my internet goes down and it has been a constant 1 to 2 days a week for about 20 minutes each day in the mornings mostly. To me that is unacceptable and I will be looking for another ISP soon. I don't recommend Xfinity for internet.
