I have been checking into internet providers and we would probably save $50.00 on the internet cost if we drop Spectrum cable, but if we go with Direct TV streaming the company wants to put an antenna on the property, which we don't want.

 In our area there are not a lot of options when you don't live in or near a large city.

I have an old Firestick that we never used beause internet would not reach out 2nd floor at the time.  The speed is better now and connection is better up stairs, I'm gonna play around with it and see if it will work.  I really hate paying $206.00 a month for television.

@Mom2Dogs

Why would Directv put an antenna on your property for streaming??  I have Directv Stream and all I use is my wifi to connect their service, no antenna.

@SilleeMee   You are correct...I posted incorrectly.... I should have said the INTERNET provider would put the antenna some where on our property.

I was looking to purchase the streaming service you recently went with -Direct TV.    My eyes are crossed trying to find another internet provider and a streaming service that my husband is happy with.

We don't have cable, we just use streaming services.

@Mom2Dogs

Love the Directv Stream. You don't need the Gemini box for it to work b/c they have an app you download on your TV. But the Gemini makes the viewing experience so much better b/c you can control what you watch with a fantastic remote. LIke never having cut the cable.

If you decide to get Directv Stream, and if it's possible to use an ethernet cable to connect to your router, the Gemini box works even better when it's ethernet-connected. I found long ethernet cables on Amazon and they are not expensive.

@SilleeMee    I need to find a reliable internet provider for less than $99.00

@Mom2Dogs

Is there fiber optics in your area yet? I can recommend an affordable company. This one is breaking ground across the nation with low-priced fiber internet. Company name is Underline...underline dot com. See if you have them yet. I am looking at their 500mbps service for $49.  They also offer 1,000mbps  for only $65.

Try moving your router to a more central location if at all possible.

@SilleeMee   I doubt it but will check.  Living slightly rural is the problem.  DH and I really liked the Direct Stream idea so hoping I can drop Spectrum at some point.  Price keeps going up for the few 18ish channels that we watch.
