Yeah, if it's only 1 hour a day...the sun will come up and go down, no matter what the clock says, so I agree.

The snow, the sounds of snowblowers, the muffled soundscape, the brightness of snow crystals, crunching snow beneath my feet, the crisp air, rabbit paw prints, children's snowmen and attempted snow forts/igloos. Christmas lights underneath the snow, sitting in front of the fireplace at 4pm, starting a slow cooked dinner at 2pm, this magical season is just as endearing as any other season. I hope it stay's dark for farmers so chores can be completed early and enjoy lost time with family while sowing, planting and harvesting consumes the rest of the year. I highly recommend making a snow Angel or throwing a snowball into the air. Are you sure you'll be around to do it next winter? I'm not. Live it up!
Loved this post and perspective. I'm a "summer girl" who's often wished away this season. And though this time of year, the shorter days is still not my fav...even before seeing this post, I have been thinking about the things you brought up here, and also for some reason..I've been appreciating this time of year too lately. Believe me, it surprises even me! ⛄️❄️✨🎄 I'm embracing the cozy, tree lit, chilly, snowy, comfort food cooking, Christmasy....more this year. And...I also know...Sept-Dec has flown by! ..so with that...spring really will be here before we know it. Meantime, enjoy this season, @HonestLife ![]()

My Daddy was a fireman and worked those crazy shifts. He hated the winter shifts Would often say say he went to work in the dark and came home in the dark.

I am the opposite. I like the shorter days because with longer days come spring followed by long hot summer. Months of over 100 degrees. Give me short days anytime. It doesn't get dark here until 5:30 (because we don't do DST) so it's not that bad.

@Pearlee - I agree and was thinking the same thing that just a few more days till it starts to get dark a little later each day.
Yesterday was so cloudy and dreary here, that I had to put on lights at 4PM.

I wholeheartedly agree!

@hckynutjohn Different topic, let's not hijack. That's been argued to death here.
@Pearlee So what??? His post is certainly gemaine to the topic-which is the shorter days.
This dislike of yours has also been hashed everytime we have to change clocks and guarantee it will happen again in the spring.
Have a nice evening.
Sheesh.
@Cakers3 Lol 😂 Classic passive/agressive. 😄

@HonestLife Well this thread wasn't meant to be about daylight savings time. It's really about the annual rotation of the earth around the sun and the days starting to get longer so here in N. America we'll have more daylight. And speaking of our lives, I handled dark, winter, and snow much better as a child. It's a lot harder now as a senior citizen, including driving in the dark and putting on boots with arthritis in my joints . So I am also looking after my own welfare.

Another one here that doesn't like it getting dark at 5pm.
For all the ohh and ahh and the "joys" of winter/snow there is ice, shoveling, trying to walk without falling and breaking something, digging your car out, heating bills (yesterday was $480.00 for 170 gal.). I'm retired but I worry about my kids getting to/from work safely.
I expect cold/snow in NE PA but I don't like all the darkness added in.
