I was trying to remove some plastic by cutting it with the edge of a pair of scissors, when they slipped, and I ended up slicing the top part of my middle finger.

Oh, my goodness did I ever bleed! I wrapped paper towels around it, and I soaked through that, before I wrapped a microfiber towel around that.

When the bleeding finally stopped, I cleaned the wound with running water, followed by pouring hydrogen peroxide over the wound, then I poured isopropyl alcohol over the wound, and lastly, I put Bactine spray on it.

I then bandaged it with several layers of bandages and first aid tape.

It hurts like a son of a......!!!!

I hope your finger heals quick!  In my youth I tried using a knife to open up an 8 track to fix the tape and ended with a cut so bad I was in the ER!! Oh the silly things we do!

I feel your pain and wish you quick healing. You're not the only clutz. 
I sliced into my finger with a pair of scissors a few years ago. I was trying to cut a hole in some tape to tape down my insulin pump. I got stitches. No one else was home so I drove myself to the er clinic. The worst part was the stupid needle to deaden the pain. I still have little feeling in the end of my finger.
