I have been doing the same thing ...but, I moved "spouse" to the top of the list😉 Not really !!!!
My kids have been-on me to stop the procrastinating & realize they don't want the job of selling or tossing my treasures🙄. I've been housing their childhood treasures and guess what they don't want them...out they go to trash. I'll gain lots of space in my garage!!!
Never ever thought I'd give away my seasonal decor or lose my desire to decorate every holiday yet I have. I've donated more than I've kept of clothing (shoes/ handbags), cookware, linens & and all areas of home to this program for homeless woman who leave their homes due to domestic abuse.
Its nice knowing someone else can use it instead of taking up space in my house🙂.

good luck with your garage sale -- wish they would reschedule our community yard sale (cancelled twice) but living in deed restricted can only have it when they say😡☹️.
I told my spouse "estate sales" are allowed anytime so I think I should have a "pre-estate sale" ...I always did well whenever I had garage sales...
I'm jealous 😉🙂

Yea for @Sooner
Same thing I did very early after I retired. Knew my income would be much less was part of it. Then, like you it got to be a pain in the butt.
I had subscriptions for fitness/running/electronics, and several, other magazines. One got more out of reading them at work on my breaks than I did after I retired. Had other things I preferred than sitting and reading. Besides, my brain was completely full, of what??

After I retired, I tried to rest for a couple months. Then I looked around and said --- Yikes! I started purging -- at first clothes, shoes, purses, etc. This took me a long time as I really was a collector and a shopper. I thought - these things are taking over my house and am I going to wear them now that I am retired? NO! After I did all that, I went through every drawer and nook and cranny and purged and sorted that all out. Whew --- what a job. I felt so good.
Now, I feel like I need to go through some stuff again. Won't be nearly as bad as the lst time thankfully!!
I wish I could get rid of the robo calls that are REALLY annoying me!!!!! We have tried in the past to get on the lists that say DO NOT CALL. It seems to work fairly well for awhile but not all the way. Then shortly - more and dfferent ones start. All kinds of random numbers come up on the screen. They call and call! Is there a way or a different list to get on now?????
I stopped my membership to a beauty box, as what did I need all of that stuff for? I rarely ever even wear makeup these days.
As for magazines, I love them! I will not give them up as long as I can afford them and enjoy them. Since I'm home all the time, I have much more time to enjoy them.
I wish I could make some annoying neighbors move -- LOL - and also some other irritating people in my life! Sounds mean but just being truthful! I just feel --- don't bother me and I won't bother you! Or as my dear mother used to say --- if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!!! Or my father would say in a teasing manner --- don't go away mad --- just go away! Ha!

I also have been doing this too recently! I guess all of the time at home has gotten me thinking of what is necessary and what isnt! It feels good to lighten the load and get rid of stuff I dont need or want. Im liking lately to simplify! Plus when I donate it can help others. Im even deleting old emails, stuff I have saved in my email account, pictures I saved on my pc, getting out of Facebook and IO groups that I am no longer interested in, and even this helps too!

There's a thing called 'death cleaning'. I know that sounds morbid but it is a real phenomenon which happens when people get older they start to declutter their homes so that the clutter is not there when they pass away. You can look it up...death cleaning.

@SilleeMee - not that I call it that, but I've been doing a form of that.
My husband passed away in July. My stepsons and I have been going through his things. We are almost done. Tons of trips to Goodwill and two pickups by 800 got junk.
I am a declutterer by nature and have been especially ruthless this year.
I more than likely am going to sell our house next spring and move to a new 55+ community that is planned for a mile from our house.
I don't plan to take tons of things with me. Only the things I really love and that will easily fit into this smaller, one level house.
I have no children of my own. My sister and her adult children are my family. I don't want them to have to go through "overkill" possessions, things in every nook and cranny, when I die. I know where every single item is in our house. I have no surprise items in cabinets and drawers. Last year I think, @RedTop said she could find a straight pin (or something like that) in the dark in her house. That would also be me.
I am not a minimalist, by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm kind of "over" possessions. I am 64.
My Christmas things now are barely minimal and I'm just fine with that. And I don't decorate for any other holiday. Not knocking anyone who does, but I just don't want all the "stuff".

Yes! That sounds a lot like what I have been doing all along. I do consider myself a minimalist and so my house is constantly being minimized...lol! That's how I keep it minimal.
