I am sorry to hear about your disease. Quite a long time ago, I started going to a new church and the pastor there gave me comfort by saying what you had written.  About answering our prayers  - yes, no, and wait.  Before that, I admit that I had a hard time with asking and not receiving and then wondering why, especially after a long time.  It still is hard at times. but I understood it much better after he clarified some things for me.  Also, the fact that just because we don't receive a certain thing we ask for doesn't mean we aren't being heard, it's often because something better is being planned for us.  Also, bad things and sad things happen to us all, but it's the acceptance of all things and knowing that we are receiving blessings no matter what.  I send you all good thoughts and blessings!

I have to tell you. I went to a Mass of Anointing last year. We were all anointed with the Sacrament of Healing during Mass. A calm like I've never felt came over me and has remained. I've been pretty calm ever since then. It is amazing how prayers can be answered. I can't change my disease but I know God will be with me and give me strength to handle whatever comes.

Jubilant,

You're just getting started! LOL.  It's just a number. I remember my mother in her later 80s and she looked dynamic! She was classy, stylish and always had a zest for life. She was a religious person who always thought in a positive way.  I believe this allowed her to really enjoy her life!

Calminheart,

You wrote so beautifully and honestly. It was moving and wonderful to see someone actually write about faith and how it's changed their lives. I am a very religious person. Believing in God and going to Mass is a true gift and always an amazing experience for me. Without faith, we don't have much. Praying and believing moves mountains and God always hears our prayers!

While I am here,  NOT here suffering a nose bleed---put something cold under the your nose where your upper lip attaches---the septum area and press---I have had my fair share of health/ life events that have been real tookas kickers too--- these past 14 years especially. Not sure what in the heck I did in previous lives, that warrant so many "corrections/punishments". And I will be 72 on Wednesday--the 70s have really been hard to accept for me---I am considered elderly now---- geez!!!! Some times feel ancient so elderly is a walk in the park!! I hear you friend!!!

I understand where you are coming from.  I'm years younger and have hit a wall or two though I've watched out for my health.

Trinity11,

You're incredibly strong! Having faith in God, can give you the ability to do the impossible. Congratulations to you for not listening to anyone, especially with becoming a mother. There's no greater gift in the world than a child! When I was expecting, they gave my child, a 5% chance to make it to term and she's going to be 23 years old in a few months. She has battled countless health issues and I have cared for her, her whole life. She is the greatest gift that God ever gave me. I'm so glad that she's all mine! She and I have been through immensely difficult times and it  made us incredibly strong and resilient together and will continue to do so as long as God allows us to. I also never said once… Why me. What I did say was thank you for choosing me to be her mother!
