Wowzer!  Yeah, it was probably $15-$20 back then.   I hope they are still making them the same quality.  I guess $20 back then probably translates to quite a bit now but that seems a little excessive to me!

I had a white pair of the Dr Scholls sandals in 1977-78, and loved them.   Good thing, because they were the only real shoes I could actually get my feet into with my first pregnancy.

At one point many years ago, they became hard to find in the stores, and I whined and lamented like a spoiled brat.  (Moi?! ) Well, a loved one found a vendor with a sizable cache of them, and bought the entire inventory for me!  I have just about every color and material, some colors in duplicate. They wear like iron, so I should be set for life.

Oh my! I didn't know these still existed! I had these back in the late 70's or early 80's. 

Are the newer ones the same as the originals? I believe they were actually wooden back in the day?

I just looked online at their site, and wow! I  don't remember them being so pricey! But I do remember they lasted forever.

@RedTop  I remember I began wearing them because of their advertising campaign.  They touted they were good for creating shapely legs.  There is a small ridge on the footbed, underneath the toes, and you were supposed to semi-curl your toes over it as you walked, thereby exercising your calves.

Definitely more than back in the day, but in my life at this time, the perfect pair of shoes is worth 10 times that price.

I have horrible knee and heel pain and shoes (while I have never cared for shoes or expensive ones) that help alleviate that are worth about any cost to me.

I do know I couldn't wear something this hard anymore, but I do remember them being comfortable for me back in the day.

@Mominohio  Yes, mine are wooden and have the brass slider for size adjustment.  Also have metal rivets holding the strapping onto the side of the sole. They were well made.  

Pricey now, for sure!  Makes me appreciate my Gifter and stash all the more.

Yes, usually cosmetics. They get discontinued or released in limited editions so often that if I really fall in love with something I know I will use up, I will buy a backup.

I do it with clothing.  If I love a top, I'll buy several.  Sometimes the same color, sometimes different colors.  Depends on availability.

Rimmel stopped carrying the shade of lipstick that is perfect for me.  After searching every store imaginable, I went on Amazon and got to a site where I bought 12 tubes.  Couldn't believe they were three-packs and even cheaper than Rimmel sells for at the store.  I am enjoying them and even gave one to my aesthetician who does my facials:  she always commented on the exceptional color

Just last weekend I went out with just one item that I needed now that I switched over to my summer purse: a tall style credit card holder.  There at Boscov's was a special sale by a leather designer they normally don't carry:  Cole Hahn.

Serendipity:   Found an oyster white one, reduced from $120 to $3X.     Perfect, so I got a backup one in Cobalt.     I'll probably never need another one in my lifetime.  LOL.

Yes, I have.  I purchased an 8qt electric soup pot that was non stick lined and  tempature controlled, similar to an electric fry pan.  I purchassed it from a competitor of QVC and it was,  and still is, one of the best things I have ever bought for the kitchen.  I've had it about 5 years now and the duplicate is still in its box.  I use it all the time for sauces, soups, chilli and the like.  Unfortunately, they don't make it anymore.  At the time, I bought about 5 of them and gave the rest as gifts.  I love this so much that I would buy a third if I could find one.
