Re: How you do anything, is how you do everything

I remember my mother saying to my siblings and I .....  "A thing worth doing is worth doing well".

Much truth is this article you posted.

My mother drilled that same saying into our heads when we were young and i pretty much lived by it...no matter how thankless, small, demeaning, overwhelming it was......

I can still hear her voice saying it to me all the time......

and also...she would always say "lifes not fair".........and

"i am the master of my fate, i am the captain of my soul"....the THREE quotes us kids heard continuously.....

good lessons in life...Smiley Happy

"....i am the master of my fate, i am the captain of my soul"...."

Invictus by William Earnest Henley

This poem will drilled into me during Jr High School....  and a great poem IMHO.  Woman Very Happy

Invictus
William Ernest Henley, 1849 - 1903
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
  For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

This poem is in the public domain.

Yes, very true.  My dear mother always said --- don't do something, if you're not going to do it right!

I've always felt that way.  I might not always get the results that others do, but I put my heart into whatever I do!!

And --- there's no shame in any job, as long as you give it your all.

Like the title of your subject very much! I don't know about President Carter, but it's certainly true in my case.
