Wondering how you all dispose of old, expired medications?  We used to flush them and some we put in the trash.  I have heard that is not a good idea.  

When there are sites that you can take your meds to, I wonder what they do with them to get rid of them??

Local hazardous waste "roundups."  Here, it's our county.

Ask your pharmacy.  Our CVS Minute Clinic accepts them.

Whatever you do, do NOT flush them or throw them in the trash, they only end up in our environment.

Take them to a pharmacy, they will dispose of them properly.

I do plan to take to places that take the meds. Our Dr office has a new box to put them in.

HOW do they and the police get rid of them?   Does anyone else wonder?

I read you should never flush or put in the trash. One of our pharmacy’s has a drop box. Your pharmacist should have an answer for you.

Ours does too, also the clinic pharmacy where I go has a 24 hour container where you can deposit them.

Most pharmacies or police stations will either take them or tell you where you can take them.

Proper disposal applies not only to Rx meds but to all supps and otc meds.

@CherryHugsI see what you're asking and it's a good question!  I work for a police agency, I'm going to ask tomorrow, as I don't know myself.  I'll report back if they'll tell me, might be classified info!!!
