I don't understand. What is the consequence of having one's post reported (i.e., edited)? Who would care?

to get it removed..............for some, if they don't like what you have to say, the next best thing to having you agree with them, is to have your post removed.........helps keep up the illusion they are perfect...........................................raven

Since the woman is a resident in the nursing home, I assume she is elderly, at least partially disabled (walker), and thought enough of your friendship to invite you out so you wouldn't be alone on your birthday. I would be happy just for the thought and acknowledgement. Perhaps she was absolutely mortified when she realized she didn't have enough money to cover the bill.
I understand that many people regard their birthday, even when they are older, to be extremely important and want it to be recognized and celebrated in just the right way. I don't happen to be one of them. I'm grateful just to have kind thoughts on my birthday, but if people don't even remember it, that's fine too.
I agree, the older I get I have realized that about birthdays, everyone has one!
I'd chalk it up to spending 20 bucks for taking a friend who doesn't drive out for a little while.
Lord knows I've spent more money on worse things.

sheesh. Even so, if a post is reported, Webbie automatically removes it? I thought only inflammatory posts or those against the rules are deleted.

well I guess webbie takes the stance that some huge (board) wars have started with a simple sentence........................................raven

yes, depends on what webbie is on duty. If they read the reported post and feel it could escalate, they may remove it. We'll have to wait and see if these edited posts disappear. I don't think any of them should at this point since they are merely differences of opinions and since the OP asked what we would think, unless all you want is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows in response, then don't put it out there in question form.

I saw her nic on the Members Online list so I guess she doesn't want to comment (which is ok & her choice)

Happy Birthday! And lucky you are that you brought your own money. At least you weren't all alone. Nice to chat with someone on our birthdays. Hope your afternoon was pleasant.

that was my thinking also..............don't ask the question if you don't want to hear my answer........best to just keep talking to oneself, at least one will get the answer they want to hear....................................................raven

Just thinking.......maybe the sister was going to pay for most of the lunches. She may have known that her friend was on a limited budget, etc. Well, as I said before, it was thoughtful. Try to think positive on your special day. Wishing you well........
