I hope those who are reading this are 65 years of age, please go for Plan  G or N. Yes getting will cost you but you cannAdvantage is take ot reverse it unless unless ou are ever without illness. good luck.  Advantage is take it or leave it.

I can go to John's Hopskins, MD Anderson,  Mayo, Europe, everwhere I wan't. I am on Plan G.

Once you decide to make it "free"" on an advantage plan, you canot look back.  It is "free". No look back and I dont know anyone who has a health issue after 65.

PS.  the only thing is  part D.  That's the medicine which I hardly take any.  My company wants 115. a month.   I think it's outrageus.

If anyone has a better company than Humana please let me know.

Thanks.

I agree, @Pink123 .  That is the plan we have, too.  We have never paid a cent to a doctor or a hospital.  No copays.  Yes, the premium is high, but we don't always doctor in the same state and we don't want to be told what doctor or hospital we can use. We also don't need referrals.  I really don't understand these Advantage plans.  They sound like welfare for lack of a better description.  No premium and quite a bit of coverage.

As far as the Part D insurance, ours is going up to $117 a month for each of us.  We don't take many prescriptions, but that could change.

Hi @tends2dogs  you are so right.  We need to start high (meaning supplement plans other than this Addvantage) at 65 which thankfully my brother steered me to 5 years back.

Anyone approaching this please listen at 65. You can always go down for free  if you are having financial difficulty. But you cannot reverse this as you will need tests and most if not all will have something wrong with them health wise.

I'm so happy my brother gave me the advice.  I was in the hospital in 2021-2022 and the cost was over and about 2 million with second operation.  A vibrant thin girl.  Don't fool yourself.

It is very tricky, I  know quite a few multi millionaires, and then it happened to them - they were not adviised believe me!  too

late.  Better to pay for a plan when turning 65 than not.

On Plan "G", "F". (which is now gone - "F) or another good one is plan "N" but will cost you a bit moremore out pocket is the way to go IMO. But even though plan "N" is less in the end it comes out the same on the end.

On plan "G" you can go where ever, when  ever and to the emergency room for free if need be.

No one knows what tomorrow brings.

Good luck all.

Re: How will your Social Security COLA change in 2024?

Gosh, @Pink123  and @Teddixat , I am not aware of a deductible.  My DH has had this plan for more years than me, but I don't remember paying anything, ever.  The plan we have through BCBS is not available anymore.  We are grandfathered in.

We have used it alot, in different states, different doctors, different hospitals......no bills.  The premiums are high and do go up each year.

I am thankful to have it and the means to pay for it.  I would cut something else out of the budget before I let this go.

We have Plan F and we don't pay the yearly deductible. The new Plan G that replaced F doesn't cover the yearly deductible.
I'm so glad we got our plan before it was discontinued.

Yes that's true @deeva  that F is continued and you were lucky.

However, but you have to remember plan "F" is more costly each month than "G".

Plan "N" is much less expensive than "G" but covers less.  And so it goes.

You can't win. lol.

I am thrilled with "G".

I know it's more expensive, but we're willing to pay the extra. You're right, we can't win.

My friend turns 65 next month, she signed up for the high dedcutible Plan G.

@deeva  I understand but 220 bucks these days is not that high.

Should one need it we can go to Mayo clinic, MD anderson, John's hopkins.

The best hospitals in the world. It's comforting to know you can if necessary.  On Addvantage it's ust about take it or leave it with a few choices.  One won't be flying to the Mayo Clinic.

Plus you can go to the ER every day for free if necessary. LOLOL!
