I keep the temp at 68 in the winter.
The temperature where she is will be around 30-32, not below zero. If a house isn't insulated well and there are high winds, furnaces might not be capable of heating the house evenly. Often older houses have this problem.
But, generally don't understand the need for so many blankets and throws when I assume most everyone has a furnace.
The cost of all the blankets, throws, ultra warm PJ's, sweaters, and thick slippers and socks, may cost more than turning the temperature up a few degrees or using a space heater.
It's not a need...it's my preference. I have always loved sleeping in a chilly bedroom with lots of covers on the bed. And warm winter clothing is what many midwesterners wear in the winter.

55 when it's above 0 & 58 when it's below....it's 24 right now & using a Berkshire throw.

The highest I go is 70, and that is extremely rare. My gas heat is pretty efficient and we just don't like it too warm.

Well, if you live in the north you probably don't know what a heat pump is. I wish someone had told me about 6 years ago about them before that forked-tongue salesman got to my husband.
Very expensive. Worst thing I ever owned. I keep the thermostat (nowadays) on 75. It is hot all over two sides of my house and the other sides are cold as ice.
My bedroom faces northwest and of course, there is not much sun on that side of the house during the winter days (and none at night) but there is a lot of heat there in the afternoon in summer.
I have to have my heat on 75 or I would freeze to death at night. I can turn it to 68-70 during the day when I am busy and I am on the east or southeast side of the house. The guest bedrooms are on the northwest side as well.
My bedroom is equally hot in the summer and I have to keep the A/C on 68 in order not to sweat all night while the rest of the house is cold.
MORAL OF THE STORY: Never buy a heat pump.

During the day I keep the temperature in the high sixties. At night I put it down to around 62. I cannot sleep in a hot room , I need cool air and my window is always open a crack. I have warm blankets which are enough and sometimes I only use the flannel sheet! That is what I am used to and like.

My house is big, very old and a bit drafty. Our windows and doors are all originals and were not made to be weather efficient! We have a brand new furnace (twinned furnaces due to house size), but we would pay a TON of money if we tried to keep our house in the 70's.
Our house was originally built to use coal to heat fireplaces and has a lot of chimneys. We also have a wood burning stove which we rarely use. We have a hot air duct heating system.
We never go above 60 degrees for whole house heating all Winter, and I turn the furnace down a little at night as well.
We have Duraflame electric heaters in different rooms and lots and lots of blankets, especially Dennis Basso. Right now I am wearing my new Ugg sweater. We use flannel sheets all Winter. We curl up in our many blankets and our pets do, too!

During the day, I keep the house around 67-70 degrees. At night I shut off the heat since I sleep under a quilt and an electric blanket which I put on before I get in bed so the bed is nice and warm .

Back in the day, I loved to "pre-heat" my bed during the winter months ... it's so nice to keep a bed warm when it's really cold outside. A little luxury that means a lot.

In the winter we keep it around 70, but turn it up if it gets cold in here. Turned it up before bed to 73 and its cold in here now.

Do you all keep your homes a certain temp, regardless of the temp outside?
My house is pretty much 78, no matter what it is outside. I never wear a robe, sweater, jacket, or anything for extra warmth. I don't have a blanket on my bed. It's going to be 31 tonight in NV. I usually have a fan blowing on me every night.
