I do that for beets, never gave potatoes a thought! Ha!

I didn't read the whole thread but....................... did anyone say
now there's a pot to wash and also the bowl with the ice cubes. Oh, and the dish that the potato is being peeled in.... Oh, and the potatoes have to be really even too - no lumps or dents......
No thanks, I'd rather just use my double blade little hand held potato peeler that takes less than a minute to peel a potato.

I worry about the pesticides as well. I scrub my potato's with soap and rise like crazy...not sure if it removes it all though?
I buy local potatoes when they're available but even those have pesticides. What I've found is that the potatoes that don't sprout have the most pesticides.
I've gotten tomatoes that will stay firm but get little bumps and if they're cut open all the seeds are sprouted and trying to get through the skin, creepy.
Yeeks...never seen that.
You will if you buy one of those three packs, leave one of them on the window sill, and wait for it to get soft and rot like home grown ones do. It won't, one day it will have a texture. The skin seems thicker and the sprouts can't break through little bumps appear while the tomato stays firm.

That's what I thought when I watched it. And then I thought it was going to be for a raw potato not a cooked one.

I don't want to hijack your thread 'cause that's pretty neat for the potatoes.
I don't know how many of you have seen the recipe for shucking corn in the microwave. Just go to youtube and type it in. I have done it and it works fantastic. All the silk is off.

Hey, yeah! Thank you, Croemer. I'll definitely be trying this.

Sure will ivey! The microwave one I beat is quicker but I have a method to remove the silk from an ear of corn before cooking...wet a paper towel and rub it up and down the ear of corn really works.

And of course smashing a garlic clove instantly "peels" it.
Thanks for the tip!
You're welcome everybody! I can't wait to try it myself.
As one poster said I usually eat the sin when I bake a potato but this will really make quick work of potato salad.
Personally, I'm trying to cut back on sin, but to each her own.
