Back in December 1968 there was a garbage strike in NYC.   People wrapped their trash in xmas paper, left it in their unlocked cars parked on the streets of NYC and thieves stole it like crazy.

Lol.  That reminds me of an episode of Monk.  He was doing basically the same thing putting all his garbage in shipping boxes.   Great idea.

OK, this isn't directly related, but reminds me of a "what if?" instance.

Many years ago (1994) my father passed away.  My mother and I went to the funeral home later to pick up his cremains in a box placed into a standard silver gift bag.  Put it in the back seat and for whatever reason. mom and I stopped at the mall.

Came out to find the bag intact, but later thought "what IF someone had broken in to get the pretty gift bag?

That would have been a surprise for them!
