Does anyone know how I can find a phone number for someone without paying for a full report on them?  I need to get in touch with someone and I have spent an hour on line just trying to find a phone number.  So frustrating!  What happened to the good old days.

Re: How to Find a Phone Number

Well, if they are unlisted they get to choose who has their phone number.  I suppose that is as it should be.  I wouldn't want somebody to be able to 'find' my unlisted phone number.

If it's somebody you know, and you know somebody else in common, you could ask them for the phone number and, hopefully, they would ask the person first before giving it out.

Is the number listed?  If so, can you still call Directory Assistance?  Or has that gone away?  I suppose there's a charge if it exists.

Things may have changed but it used to be that if you knew the area code, you dial that plus 555-1212.  Example, New York City would be 1-212-555-1212.  Free call.

Try 411.com.  The more information you have, full name, city and state, the easier it is to find the person.  No fee any time I have used it.  Good luck.

@Biftu, In addition to the good suggestions here, if you don't find information online (I usually try WhitePages.com, and sometimes if you know the names of any associated people -- usually close relatives -- you can plug in those names in the search) you might try social media.  As an example, many people list their phone numbers or other contact information on Facebook.

whitepages.com works also as a reverse look up too-- if you have the address and name, you can find the phone number.

Not sure if Spokeo is still in existence that too might work as well.

Re: How to Find a Phone Number

@janeecI'd never used that site, so I just tried it for someone with whom I'd lost contact.  They diverted me to spokeo.com which wanted 95 cents for their info, but I could see from what they did reveal that their info was what I already had and know to be useless.  I wouldn't have minded that cost - even the phone companies used to ask for more, but they are not up to date at all.

Do you have their address?  You can go to homemetry.com and enter the address.  The owner of that property comes up along with their phone number.
