Re: How often do you

[ Edited ]

One thing I have never ever done and will not do is purchase something under lock and key.

I will go elsewhere or order online.  In NYC almost all laundry products are now locked up so I always go to Amazon for those.  The nearest grocery store sounds a shrill alarm if you open up the ice cream freezer!

I don't appreciate being treated as a potential thief, so no sale.

But I'll pay extra to use a self checkout lane!

When I use self-check out I don't consider myself working for the store. I am checking my own groceries, the work benefits no one but me.  I am not working for the store when I place items in a cart or bags in the car.

I will occasionally use one if I only have one or two items, but I prefer not to use them.  My newest pet peeve is the stores like Home Goods and Michaels that won't let you take your cart to your car.  I use a cane, so there's a limited amount I can carry.  I guess that's more places I won't be able to shop.

I love self scanners. For me the cashiers line is too long and I can bag my items the way I want to. Past experience is as the cashier is scanning they would say "oh that is cute" or " are these good?" Woman Frustrated well I don't think I would buy them if they weren't or don't know if I haven't tried them. Just not in the mood for my purchases to be examined. Woman Very Happy

I do the same thing.  I buy it elsewhere or order online.  I will use the self checkout if I just have a few items and the cashier checkout lines are long, but not for a larger grocery order.

It seems like every time I go into Target, more stuff is behind lock and key.

Use the self scanners in the stores..My supermarket is always pushing it..I'm not a s company employee! While they have a cashier(arms folder) watching what goes over the scanner.

I have trouble getting them to "help" bag my groceries( I have servere shoulder problems)..I always ask before putting my stuff on the belt..One day the girl say "no"..I let her ring everything up and then told her I didn't want it!..So she had to get a manager..he bagged the stuff for me..Never saw the girl again.

I usually get an annoyed look..I tell them I do not work or get paid from the store to work...

@Jo1313 what a spiteful nasty thing to do. You sound like one of those difficult customers.  And since you have shoulder problems & need help bagging you should use the regular checkout.

Never!!!!

Grocery stores in my neck of the woods are unionized.   The stores will have to pay me if they want me to bag my own groceries.  icon_razz.gif

Very occasionally, only if I only have a few things and the store is very busy. Otherwise, I'd rather go through the regular checkout. I've never had a problem using it. If I had a question it's usually on a produce item I didn't see a scan code on, but someone comes over to help right away.

We usually have people that are bagging our groceries in most of our stores. Or else the cashier has no problem doing it at all, and fully expects to do it. I'm not a great or fast bagger, but I often help out as needed. If there's a dedicated person there to do it I just happily let them do it, much better than I do.

Of course, stores like Aldi's it's "bag you own" which is fine by me.

If only a handful of items I do self service. I always look to see what area has shorter lines. Many times the cashier is faster, depends? If I have alot I f items in the cart I will wait for a cashier.
