I remember 50 cents a week. I'm sure it increased as I got older but I just remember the 50 cents. My daughter responded to the wrong group text just now and I saw how much my grandchildren are getting a week and if they mark off a chore but didn't do it they get their keys taken away from them the next day... I told her she could have my keys I didn't want them (g) $70 a week! What!!??
If that includes having to buy their own gas, maybe I can understand. When I started driving gas was 30 cents/gallon. My grandson has a part-time job but my granddaughter is too busy with academia to work.

I don't recall how much allowance I earned each week but I recall with clarity that by the time I was driving I was working part time and paid a token "rent" to mom and dad from my paycheck each week. No more allowance but my household chores were still expected to be done.
ETA: In regard to allowance it wasn't much; likely no more than $5 a week as a teen, less as a pre-teen.

A dime...then a quarter when I was in high school, plus bus fare. My dad paid me for mowing the lawn.
My mother insisted that I put it in a bank account (yes, local banks had "kiddie accounts").
Then, when I turned 18, she went and withdrew the money...AND KEPT IT FOR HERSELF.

I don't remember and I didn't have set chores but my mom and dad both worked full time and my mom had some disabilities with bad arthritis so I cooked dinner most every night as a teen once my sister got older and worked, before that she cooked.
I would also do things like mow the lawn to earn extra money and I had lots of baby sitting jobs before I could work.

No allowance. If I received birthday or Christmas money, I was expected to use it to handle what I wanted or needed for school. As a result, I got a job as soon as I was old enough, learned to save money, and did whatever I could not to let my " desires" have power over the little money I had.

I don't remember my teen and preteen allowance amounts either but what you mentioned sounds about right.

I don't recall getting any allowance, back then we were told " you have a roof over your head, food to eat and clothes on your back" I started babysitting for a couple with one child when I was about 14, then at 16 I started working in a nursing home, ( no longer babysitting) got my drivers license and got my first used car. I worked weekends at the nursing home,
