John, do you think Cindy would mind if I borrowed you for a little while? I'll be willing to pay in tons of kitty treats.

She only appears when the mood hits her, and then she takes her own sweet time getting a job done, or she flits from job to job, not completely finishing what she started on any of them. If something better to do comes up, which happens a lot, she takes off and leaves the mess behind. Of course, her pay is not that good, so I guess you get what you "pay" for. In emergencies, she comes through, but then she is worn out for the 12 hours of work done all in one shift, but the results usually pass muster. You want to guess who she is?
As I was reading your post I was thinking, oh my...not good, lol, until I realized you were talking about yourself. Too funny.
Yep. I'm the uppity cleaning lady with the short attention span and big attitude.
I thought you were talking about me ... and I don't even know where you live.

I don't have the time and I have bad back and hip..I do it but would love to find somebody reliable..I think it will be on my "list" for this summer to get done.
I have such a full schedule...my sister's wedding, vacation, some house remodeling, my daughter's wedding in the fall..never seems to be enough hours in the week lol..
I believe you can get a service that does walls etc - someone like service master does for businesses.

I am lucky enough to have a cleaning lady who comes every two weeks. Due to arthritis in my back my physical activity is limited. I do clean up in between her visits and change the bed, etc...I do our laundry. We have a four bedroom, 5 bath home and hoping to downsize one of these days ! We pay her and one assistant a total of $110.00 a visit. They dust, vacuum, do bathrooms, windows and anything else I need done in the house.

I've changed my mind. After next week when I get the thorough cleaning done with the gift certificate - I'll be my own cleaning lady!!! I work cheap!

After I stopped working, just about 10 years ago, we stopped having the cleaning lady. I was just beginning to have some more serious health challenges at the time and realized that I just couldn't handle it. So, we got her back.
Our house is kind of big, so we don't have her do the entire house. Sometimes I commission her for extra hours to do different parts, though. I couldn't do all of this. It's all I can do to keep the kitchen clean, vacuum a few times a week, and keep my bdrm and master bath clean. She cleans the husband's bath so, fortunately, I don't even have to go in there. REALLY glad for that!!
Of course, prices would vary across the country and also in consideration of whether you use a service or an independent person who works for him/herself.

Tansy, we'll see. My house isn't that big, and my hairdresser also is a house cleaner and she was just here today, we talked about it, she definitely will give my house a thorough cleaning just before our 50th Wedding Anniversary Party Aug. 31st which will be held here in our garage and house. In the meantime I plan on keeping it cleaner than before - and see how it works - just can't get down on my hands and knees anymore but most cleaners don't either, they use mops anyway.
