@Carolina925 wrote:Good for you, @San Antonio Gal ! I have an angry sweet tooth and, even though I limit the sweet snacks I keep on hand, I seem to always crave them. I even keep fruits in the fridge to satisfy that thing but it always screams: I want a carb loaded sweet something! It's a constant battle for me. Some days I can get by with one midday meal, usually a big salad loaded with protein, then maybe a piece of WASA bread around 6. Some days I wake up ravenous, some days I can easily wait until around 11 to get my meal. If I eat dinner, it'll be a protein shake. Food seems to not go easy on my tummy at night, even when I eat around 6; the shakes are easily digestible. Since I've retired and am not so active, it's easier to limit my meals. When I worked, it was an omelette for breakfast, salad at lunch, and anything I could easily eat at night. I worked until 8 or 9 though and was too tired to cook or eat.
@Carolina925 My husdand craved sweets and carbs all the time until we started tracking what we ate and found out he was always low on protein. He is getting enough and it has really helped him with the cravings and he says he feels better.
Just tossing that out but it was a huge difference for him.

Thanks, @Sooner . I do try to add lots of protein and some meals that's all I eat. I've not monitored it but probably should start. I gave up sugar for Lent once and, after the first couple weeks, I didn't even miss it. I stopped eating it, with the exception of all the sugar added into processed foods that I didn't realize, and even after Lent found that I didn't crave it as much. My failure came when I started eating it again. For me, it's like cigarettes. When I finally was able to kick that habit, it wasn't so difficult to do without. I had "just one more" once with some friends who smoked and all over again I was hooked. Thankfully I was able to finally give that up altogether and now am working on that sugar craving.

@Sooner I get migraines, too. And I had a test that showed I'm hypoglycemic, so I'm into eating small & eating kind of often.

@Carolina925 You might try tracking it for awhile and see how it goes. I use an online diet program and my main concerns are protein, calcium and fiber. Plus it shows vitamines, sugar, fat etc.
Like you said, it takes a while to kick in but getting enough protein has made an amazing difference for him.
He has never had a real weight problem, but it's the cravings that aren't bad now so he's not in a hungry/snack/hungry mode all the time.

@San Antonio Gal Why did you start eating OMAd starting three years ago? Did something trigger you? What do you eat for dinner? I just don't understand why someone would want to starve themselves and feel it is ok. I can see cutting back on carbs. Sorry, it is a very unhealthy relationship you have with food.
