I'm dying to take mine down. When the holiday is done, it's done. I plan on taking it down before the weekend.

I usually take my trees down a few days after Christmas because I like to have everything fresh, clean, and decluttered by the New Year. However, this year was different. This year we had to take them down on the 26th.
I have two dogs and one of them was OBSESSED with both trees this year. He was constantly finding ways to take down ornaments (and break them!), pull my beautiful gold picks out, and run around with ribbon and candy canes in his mouth. This is even after I gated up/blocked the trees. He is a determined guy and constantly chasing him around the house became too much for all of us.
So, the trees came down and life is back to "normal" although he has now taken to trying to jump on the windows to take our holiday cards down. He is having some success, so those will be the next to go! lol
I have to think of a better plan for next year...

We put it up Thanksgiving weekend. We'll take it down the day after New Year's Day.

Timely topic! Took our Christmas decorations down this morning right after breakfast. House is back to normal and DH is a happy man. š

Because I work so much, I always have everything cleaned up by New Years Day.

We don't put up a tree anymore, but we put other decorations out. We de-Christmas the first week of January. The actual day depends on what else we have going on. We continue using the our Longaberger Traditonal Holly dishes until the end of the month, though.

we used to get a live tree when we were coming here weekends. we would pick one up the weekend before Christmas and put it in a bucket of water. we'd set it up, i would be off work for two weeks or more ( plant shutdown) when the tree started needling we'd take it down, usually New Years Day.

No rush. We have two artificial trees. Back when I worked -and had a real tree- I wanted it down by the time I had to go back to the office after New Years Day.

@greamy wrote:Please be careful with a live tree. A very wealthy family in our town living in a beautiful mansion left their tree up and it caught fire. The entire family perished, the Grandparents to whom the home belonged and 3 precious Grands. The next day they were going to Disney. Please be careful!š
That was horrible. If my memory serves me right the house was stone too.
In some long ago conversation no one understood why a sprinkler system was not installed since it was a new build.
So tragic.
