Strictly a small crossbows bag (sometimes ripstop nylon). Lip gloss, keys, cellphone and a pen. If I'm going into a casino(1-2 times weekly), I ditch my phone and only carry ID.

@Yahooey wrote:The thread asking how many bags you carry got me thinking. How heavy is your bag? I swear when I was in my 20s, fanny pack days, everything I needed fit in there. I carried a walkman, keys and a wallet. I never understood a large bag...fast forward...
Now, I carry a large leather tote bag-
vaccum sealed 21 oz water (this is the heaviest thing in there)
phone
lunch
wallet
it weighs just under 10 pounds - I don't even carry a hair brush or makeup except for hand lotion and a lip balm.
Honestly the only time my bag is heavy is when I carry my Dooney, I do not carry it much for that reason. My other bags are leather but light weight. I carry a wallet, my phone, a planner (I still enjoy paper planners) my eye glass case. I have really downsized what I need. I like to look in my bag and just see a few things.

I know I'm carrying around at least 5lbs on my shoulder. I try to empty my handbag out every week. I have a habit of throwing my change into my bag and by the end of the week I have what feels like several extra pounds of coins siting at the bottom. Plus it's an old leather dooney so it's heavy with nothing in it.

I carry a small styrofoam cooler of assorted snacks in my car in the event my husband has a low blood sugar episode while we are out. Juice boxes, fruit cups, pudding, granola bars, and snack cakes, which at one time were carried in my handbag.
I thought I was the only person who has a cooler in her car! LOL ![]()
I always take a bottle of cold water and a protein shake with a large lightweight ice pack .... if I find a cold food bargain in the grocery store when running errands, I don't want to have to run right home afterwards so it doesn't thaw ... well, you get the idea. The ice pack keeps the cooler cold, so I can finish my errands.

I'm a nut for organization and compartments, and finally found my PERFECT handbag! ![]()
Leather satchel with 10" handle drop, three outside compartment, three large zipper compartments, and two magnetic snap compartments between the zippered ones. Purple satin lining and good construction. I actually bought this B Makowsky on QVC and, after several years of daily wear, I found a NWT duplicate on Ebay for $100!
Yes, it's a smidge heavier than I would like, but so what? I don't carry it long distances, and when I'm in a store that has grocery carts, I snap the child seat belt around one of the handles, and hold the other. I don't like shopping with my bag on my shoulder because it doesn't give me two free hands.
Anyway, to answer the OP's question, my bag is "medium heavy" and I really don't mind.

All things being equel, I think we all prefer a less heavy bag... That said, it's not a big deal for me, as I don't tend to carry my bag for a long time or for long distances and don't really get why anyone would... I tend to carry my bag from my house to my car, where I set it down... Then from my car to where I'm going where, again, I set it down... If I'm shopping, it'll sit in the cart... If I'm shopping in a store without carts then yes, I have to carry it, but it isn't usually for hours and hours... If I'm going to be outside for long periods, odds are my bag will either stay inside or in my car... The very few things I might really need while outside or walking come with me in my pockets or in a small pouch... We all differ, but my bag's weight isn't usually one of my over-riding concerns...

Depends on which bag I'm carrying and what items. If I have to carry my battery bank that thing is a half pound on it's own. But on a normal minimal day, my current bag loaded is 4 lbs.

I've carried an ice chest during summer in my car for a really long time.
