Follow me here- I am wondering how far back in your life can you remember? Does it depend on your age? Is it different for kids? Does the memory go away and come back later? Here is why I ask........
Im in my 50s & remember kindergarten and my dad teaching me to ride my bike w/out training wheels. My son (in his 30s) says he remembers back to 2 (by things he describes to me, or is it just from me telling him?). My daughter (30s) remembers back to preschool @ age 4.
Now this is what struck me odd. My youngest granddaughter (8) who is only here a short time, has NO recollection of me babysitting them when she was 2 & 1/2 or so at my old apartment before I got remarried. She doesnt even remember me living anywhere else except the house I live in now with my DH..lol..
On the other hand my other grandaughters (14 & 12) remember my apartment, and so far back that they remember arguing as tots and what they argued over (certain toys). The oldest granddaughter even remembers the smell of my apartment (not a bad smell, a smell she described as minty).
Its weird how the brain works. I wonder why my youngest granddaughter cant remember just over 5 yrs ago but the other 2 remember being tots and the smell of my apartment etc? And why do we remember way back to roughly 4 or 5 when we are older folks?
