How does your boss/supervisor notify everyone in your workplace that a coworker has been terminated?

Or does he or she not do this? Hello everyone hope you are all doing well. A coworker of mine was fired on tuesday and a couple of days later my boss sent out an email along with our schedules (she always does this part) stating that the person in question was no longer with our company. Do you think this was really necessary? She did include other information in the email.
