@Kachina624 wrote:Now @skatting44 do you really think people are going to own up to some of your options? Ninety percent of posters always say the pay their cc balances in full at the end of each month. Nobody is going to admit to charging everything until their cards are maxed out.
@Kachina624 - Your comments are so true. I stopped reading this thread after your post.

@gertrudecloset wrote:Won't these "paid off credit cards each month" soon be cancelled? I mean the companies aren't making any money off of your spending habits (if you Pay it off each month). They make money by charging you interest and carrying a balance. Charge cards are better for closing your balance at the end of every month. Credit Card issuers expect you to carry a balance (at some point) in order to make money. Yes, they will close your account if they don't make any money off of you via interest and the APR.
Everyone knows this.
I've had the same credit card for 20 years and have always paid off any charges in full at the end of the month. They have never even hinted at canceling my credit card.

Why the nosy questions?

@gertrudecloset I get punished for only having one card. I have near perfect credit, but it never goes higher then 817 because it's only one card. Different story if I had more. But I refuse to bow to the Credit card company wishes.

I do this just in case, but I've never had to wait. So far it's works pretty good for me. I always pay my credit card online. My husband has more bills then me, as he pays the utilities, gas & electric, water bill etc. My responsibility is the weekly food order. And the cable bill. So any other bills are for what I buy for myself. My husband and I have always, always have separate checking accounts. So we are responsible for our own bills.
@songbird I find that so odd...my DH and I married 41 years. We started out together in out early 20's with nothing... but love! Money was always our money....joint accounts...we both pay the bills....none of this her money his money business. Never could figure that out how people married have separate money? It is just OUR MONEY.
I thought that too. But my parents had the same arrangement and it worked out fine. I love having my own checking account. No arguments over buying something. We both work. Right after I had my son, I quite working for a couple of years. It was awful. I had to depend on a budget my husband arranged to buy food. We started arguing about money. I take care of food, clothing, cable bill. My husband covers everything else. In fact, I think all women should be somewhat independent of their husband. I love him, but I'm not stupid. It a long road ahead with a lot of detours.
I have inherited money from my parents. My husband is not getting that. My son is. I had a brother in law (they've since divorced) but he drank all the inheritance she got from her parents.

@songbird , sorry to seem like I'm following you around today! Dh and I do our finances the same way. And I, too, had the experience of being dependent while I was a SAHM. When I went back to work after my children went to school, I wanted to contribute to the household bills and to manage my own expenses. This was back in 1990. We've done it that way ever since. Big expenses come from Dh's business income but I pay a few monthly bills. I budget my monthly income, don't over-extend, and I save the rest. I pay for my animals, including 2 horses which I board. He always pays for our vehicles but I did put money toward the truck purchased recently because there were certain things I wanted/needed due to using the truck to haul my horses. Since last summer was more restricted, this year my friends and I have plans that include hauling out to different trails. ![]()
We don't argue about money. We're both careful and worked hard for everything we have.

Since I have been at home, my monthly expenses have dropped thru the floor. Actually worth a laugh each month.

It's really because we both work. I like the ability to pay my own bills instead of raiding my husband's bank accoutnt. I like it that way too! I don't have to apologize for spurging on gold & clothes from QVC too!
