NOLA native here, and our pronunciation is often more Noo Yawk than Southern. So I say "waw-duh" with the emphasis on the first syllable.

I grew up in the south and said, and still say, "wad (like a wad of paper). - er." My parents moved to the Chesapeake Bay when I was 12. My school friends all said "wood - er." Smiley Wink

Waww-ter....The emphasis is on the first syllable and sounds like the word “awe” with a W in front of it. I’m from New Jersey but I never called it worter.
