TaxyLady, they can easily pop the handles off. If that doesn't get it through, depending on the people bringing it, they are either allowed or not, to remove the doors. The last SA at Home depot said they don't allow the door removal because it can damage the ice-maker. Which wouldn't bother me at all since we don't have the water lines and never will. The Whirlpool wouldn't fit in here even if they had taken the doors off. Our doorway is 28.9 inches but they need room for fingers.

Really hope yours fits in easily and you love it, whatever brand the mysterious Kenmore is actually made by!

I'll chime in in case you are still reading.

Do not buy and LG, no matter what. Ours is a POS. We bought a SS French Door LG almost 10 years ago when we moved into our new house.

Right after the warranty expired, one year warranty, the ice maker kept making ice, but wouldn't drop it into the bin. It was going to cost almost $1,000 to fix it so we just live with it. We turn the ice maker on and fill the bin manually , then turn it off until we need ice again.

Right after that, the plastic shelves, yes plastic, started cracking. The bins came off the rails that hold them as the rails broke.

We like the French Door just fine and like the ice/water in the door. Too bad we can't get ice from there.

Oh and don't get me started on their customer service. Absolutely the worst I've ever encountered.

If you value your skin, avoid the Frigidaire. Didn't realize til an hr. ago that the freezer shelf edges are also sharp. Sporting another scrape! I have had it. Will be fighting with DH tomorrow, I want to return it. However, not sure what Lowe's has that will fit inside the door and not cost over 1200.00.

I have a house full of builder grade GE appliances and have been perfectly happy with them for 6 years now. So are all my neighbors and we all have the same appliances.Can't speak to the customer service - have never used it. Knocking on wood now.

BTW - GE makes their appliances in Mexico now - while I'd rather have made in America I'd rather have made in Mexico than made in China.At least GE is reasonably priced.

We love the freezer on the bottom, and we love having an older fridge in the basement for extra things we have. My husband even said when the one downstairs goes, he wants to replace it! LOL

I have had side by sides ( large ones too ) and hated the fact that the freezer couldn't hold a turkey or two and ordinary things like pizzas. The fridge sides wouldn't hold a Costco pizza and placing holiday leftovers was a pain.

We have a Samsung 4-door and it holds everything. I can now get what I buy Costco in there easily with room to spare.

Sounds great to me! We have nothing so nice around here and I am thinking of leaving my beloved NJ. May I ask what state you live in?

I live in MY beloved state of NJ also and would never even consider moving out of this state. I am a Jersey Girl through and through. It has its positives and negatives, but I was born here and I will die here.

Thank you for all your comments. My new Kenmore Elite, 24cu feet 1 door top and bottom freezer was delivered today. It took them about 2 hours. It would not fit through the door. They had to take both the doors off the fridge and finally it squeaked through the door. I was afraid it would not fit in the space provided with cabinets on the top and side. But, it fit like a glove with no room to spare. Then they had to put everything back on the fridge. All I lost was some ice cream. The funny thing is when they told me I could put everything in the freezer I heard ding ding ding. It was that darn alarm!! I had to laugh.
