How do you handle overwhelming stress?

I've written here before about my 90 year old mother's fall and broken shoulder. She was very difficult accepting even a temporary loss of independence, firing her aides when I was overseas, after she promised to make no changes until after my return. Now I learned that she is driving when she had promised to have a driving evaluation test, which the family had arranged for next month. I live far away from Mom so I cannot follow her every move. My husband was recently diagnosed with a chronic condition that will involve some dangerous meds for at least a year. And just this past week my son-in-law was fired, my daughter is unhappy in the marriage, and all the troubles are affecting my 8 year old granddaughter in school. I have offered to pay for any counseling they want to pursue. My daughter says her job can keep them just above water, but only just. I am so stressed out by these intergenerational problems that I'm asking you, my BB friends, for guidance on how to deal with all this stress.
