Now see these are the ones that get me @jaxs mom... the people who go out and post no parking signs on a public street in front of their house or who will rush out and try to force people to move when they park in front of their house... Pea brained... Unless you enjoy a private drive, and as long as parking is permitted on the street, no one owns the area in front of their house on a public street...
Other than when it's only an occasional occurrence, I do get the resentment about turning around in driveways, but I suspect we all do it at one time or another. Still, it is private property, can be disruptive, especially with headlights at night and when it happenes frequently is likely to lead to some sort of lawn or property damage eventually...
LOL I live in the boonies and you should have seen people staring out their windows at us when I was teaching my daughter to drive a few months ago. She needed to practice parallel parking so I needed to find some cars that were parked on the street.
Oh no, who are these people that are parking behind my car. This wasn't on my street but nearby. I ended up parking our other car in the street and having her use it to park behind. @stevieb
Oh brother @jaxs mom... It's funny, if a little sad, how proprietary some folks can get about the space in front of their house... I get that it can be an annoyance when someone not living in the house is constantly parked in front of it, especially if the space is needed by residents, but when it's occasional thing and on a public street, I guess I just don't get it... On several occasions I've had neighbors who would shuffle their cars around prior to going out to ensure no one would take their 'preferred' parking spaces... Life's too short... Now, all that said, I do try to get an end space as often as possible...

My opinion on this subject, you all need more things to do. What is wrong with someone turning around my goodness.........now getting in your yard and messing up your land that is not right but to be lost or whatever and need to turn around.........I think this is so silly.

@msh8970 It would tic me off as well. If you can come up with an idea do it. A nice sign that gets the idea across that is friendly. Why not?
A little different situation is one of my neighbors whose lawn is right next to the sidewalk... people walking their dogs let their dogs poop on her grass....and did not pick it up( jerks). So my neighbor made a sign asking to please pick up after your dogs...it was a nice sign, but got the point made. Since the sign I notice no poop on her lawn.. sometimes people just take advantage of others by being inconsiderate, and they need a wakeup call.

Telling everyone that "you all need more things to do" isn't going to bring you any kind remarks you have been asking for in your posts. It's not silly if you're a property owner.

As far as I know, the space between the curb and sidewalk, including the driveway enterances, is still public property in most municipalities. Quite honestly, this comes across as sounding petty to me. And my own neighbors would laugh if someone put out a sign like that. But since it's one person repeatedly doing the turnaround that is upsetting you, I'm sure you could diplomatically ask her to turn around somewhere else some day.
@PurpleBunny, apples to oranges. That numbered, assigned parking space is paid for by you just like your numbered, assigned living space. Tell your landlord to enforce the reserved parking or refund a bit of your rent since you aren't getting whst you're paying for.
Oh we've tried. Believe me. They won't. They prefer not to get involved.

I'm fortunate and happy that I live in an area where people just do things like that. It's rude and intrusive. I suppose someone might to it they were lost or if there was some type of emergency or if a road is blocked. But everyday???? If it doesn't bother you, you don't have a problem. It would bother me and I'd definitely put a stop to it. My driveway....when I had one....was not an extension of the road. But, as I said, people don't behave that way in my world.

I have had many homes but felt the need in two to post signs or build a fence to keep people off the lawn.
One we had a private drive with no outlet, People thought it was a street they were turning into not a dive way. We posted a private drive sign and the cars coming in stopped. The other was a fence on property line next to the road to keep people from turing around on our lawn. Yes, how rude. After many rut repairs on the lawn it had to stop. A split rail fence and problem solved.

And that is what most are talking about here, not the "silliness or need more things to do" scenerio that you mentioned.
Kinda ironic that you of all people would even say that, LOL!

It is your property, you paid for it, pay taxes and maintain it. No one has the right to use your driveway as a public street. I would not be upset if it happened once in a while and no damage was done, but when your lawn gets torn up and people use it every day that is crossing the line.
I often see signs on private residential property and on business parking lots that tell you " no turning in driveway". The signs are available from Amazon.
You can try posting a sign and see if it works. You might have to place a barrier at the end of the driveway for a week or two, so people have to stop, look and notice your sign.
Good luck.
