Re: How do spammers get your email address?

Even some news sites have a message how they will use their information if you visit their site and ask you to accept an "I AGREE" box to continue reading an article.....don't do it.

@cherry

I was looking for a recipe and the yummly site had a good one, so I made the mistake of signing up since I'm always looking for new recipes, but the trade off was I got tons of emails from them......I blocked their email to stop it.

That's good to know.  Thanks, Gardenman!

So far I haven't missed any emails that I would expect to get so hopefully they are doing it right.     I'm enjoying it immensely.   Smiley Happy

Lots of ways. They buy them, they get them from affiliates (if you give your email address to a company, they may turn around and give it to affiliates), they crawl the web for them, etc. They may buy them from legit sources or they may buy them from someone who sold them after getting them by hacking a site for user data. Sometimes they just guess email addresses, too.

I always wondered if ATT was selling my email addresses.   Seriously - the spam was positively horrendous and I'm pretty careful how I use my email addresses and what sites I frequent.
