Mouse over your user name (next to notifications)

From the drop down select "my settings"

Select "personal information"

There's a box for you to type in a signature.

To expand on gardensla's post if you put <em> before the first word in your signature line it will appear in italics which helps it stand out from the body of your post.  You can also set the color of the signature text by using using <font color="blue"> if you want it in blue or insert the color of your choice if you do not want black.

That was one I didn't know! Fixed mine.

Here's the string for my signature--you can copy and paste, take out my quote and insert your own, if that makes it easier for you. Mine is bolded and blue.
