My family typically used a shortened version of my full first name. When my brother was first learning to talk, he mispronounced it & that's how it's been since 1966.

Lil bro had another cute mispronunciation: Kentucky Fried Chicken became Funky Fried Chicken & we still use that today, too

Of course I am beammeupscottie which I shortened to just scotttie because that's what I go by anyway. Not a huge Star Trek fan but dh was and I saw all the original series.

The beammeupscottie used to be something I would say when exasperated. I've told the story before but once when the dd's were getting to me in a store dressing room (they were little) I said "sigh...beammeupscottie." DD 1 said "what did you say?" DD 2 replied: "She said she wants to beat up scottie."

Anyway, when I was signing up "beammeupscottie" popped into my head and voila!

My father was a competitive diver/swimmer when he was in college.

Since childhood all our dogs were named Abbey. At the time I chose my name I was just Abbey. With various upgrades of the board, I had to change my original nic. Our family had a cocker spaniel named Abbey #8. We went on to have one more so I should probably change the 8 to 9.
