We met at the smoking area at work and started conversing. We seemed to time our smoke breaks together. (We no longer smoke.)

My life was in turmoil. My father was hospitalized and gravely ill and I was in a non existent marriage to an alcoholic who at the time was also hospitalized for oral cancer resulting from his alcoholism. Our meeting was like a breath of fresh air that I badly needed. When my father died, he sent me a beautiful, caring sympathy card. I was touched. He was just what I needed. Meeting him gave the kick in the pants I needed to file for divorce. The rest is history.

I met my ex at the swimming pool in our apartment complex. He lived right across the street where I could keep my eye on him. He was a busy guy before I met him.

We found each other on match.com and met for coffee at Starbuck's after emailing and talking on the phone for a couple of weeks. What was supposed to be an hour meeting turned out to last for 4 hours and we've been together ever since!
