How can I keep paper from warping after using heat embossing tool?

Hello, I'm making Christmas cards and bought a heat tool for the first time to emboss lettering. I used it on a thin gold paper and the paper is now warped. I watched videos on UTube that said to keep the heat tool close and moving for 20 seconds till lettering is raised and glowy, so that's what I did. Any help would be appreciated, TIA.
