Re: How can I avoid seeing posts by a poster?

@SuesCat Yes, I know what you're saying. My problem is I have a hard time not responding to some and I shouldn't! Lol.

They are only things that *most* forums for any purpose,  including merchandising, already do and have done for decades. No one is requesting that QVC do anything special or out of the ordinary in their forums, just the basic minimum that the great majority of forums abide by.

In particular, time-outing and banning posters who repeatedly not just break the occasional rule, but flaunt the breaking with a hearty nose-thumbing. This is done routinely on every forum I have ever been on, going back to the early 1990s.

Although I understand how you feel, @truffle, the moderators might not know unless they get clear reports of the offending posts including a request that they watch the patterns of a certain poster after numerous attacks.

I'm sure they *have* gotten many requests over the years as far as some posters' patterns. For reasons unknown, they rarely act upon it, which is very, very frustrating. Bad apples do have the capability to nasty-up the barrel - which of course is their aim all along. I don't understand why there isn't more cross-referencing between moderators, shifts, reported posters, etc. When, for example, half a dozen people, over several days' time, request the moderators to look at a person's posts to back up their issues, it NEVER seems to happen. IMO this encourages the bad apples to keep it up - there is absolutely NO deterrent - why shouldn't they keep on?

Exactly, some posters have a distinct 'pattern' or fingerprint' to their posts. We all know who these people are; we just wish the mods would also be able to see these 'patterns'.

I wonder if they are unable to see them, or have been suggested NOT to see them. Either way, I don't get the point.

Exactly.   @Moonchilde, you said it better than I.

LOL - Kind of like the Real Housewives of QVCland. They just seem to thrive on going at each other.

I tend to call it like I see it and can come across as being rude and offensive. Sorry. I have to watch what I say.

My own personal take on posts and posters is, most of us can, and have, misinterpreted posts, and have also just plain gotten ticked off with various other posters. Some posters, we just know we don't see eye-to-eye with about most things. That can be aggravating, annoying, eye-rolling, etc. But it's a whole other thing with posters who quite deliberately, repeatedly, pot stir, bait, accuse, insult, and twist words in a calculated, deliberately personal way with direct, them-to-others intent to be as nastily insulting and demeaning as possible.

People can disagree, get pithed off at each other, even just plain old chronically dislike each other - WITHOUT getting deliberately personally nasty as a cat-and-mouse game for their entertainment. To me that very unnecessarily crosses a line.

I didn't mean to open a can of worm or rehash a topic. It was just that someone hit a sensitive and sore spot with me and I responded very emotionally. But hey I'm 68 and I can ignore that one person out of all the nice ones here. Smiley Happy

Re: How can I avoid seeing posts by a poster?

I think everyone has the "special someone" who just ticks you off.  I have been on the boards since 2006, and have seen all kinds of posters come and go.

Personally, even worse than trolls that change names, and antogonize threads are those who are just short, quick, nasty and negative,  And they don't even know it!  There is only one I can think of who always, no matter what, is negative, and sometimes  cruel. Not to me, because I never comment to them...but I been thinkin' , hahahahah.   I just ignore them in my head  now.  We used to be able to ignore them for real.  I don't think that is good either.  When I see this person's name I just recoil and leave, hahah.  I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
