I have that nasty cold that's going around. At first I thought I was coming down with the flu because I felt so run down the other day and even had the chills. However, that all went away and I woke up this morning with a major head cold...congested, stuffed up nose and sneezing away. Just feeling overall yucky.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Thank you. I hope so because last night I literally lost my voice. It was so raspy and scratchy and my voice kept going in and out. I just went to bed and didn't feel like watching any of the festivities on tv. I woke up after midnight and drank hot tea with alot of manukua honey. I noticed this morning, I feel a little bit better but my voice sounds terrible. Had to cancel dinner plans for today. Oh well, just going to nurse this cold and stay warm. Hopefully will find some good stuff to watch on tv today and hang around on the boards.

Re: How are you celebrating New Year?

We returned home (victorious) from a bowl game. We had an early dinner, watched the concert on PBS, then went to bed before midnight. Today we took down both of our Christmas trees. Tomorrow I'll tackle the other decorations.

Re: How are you celebrating New Year?

I am tired, tired, tired Smile

We had a nice little party last night, even the kitties took part, although they didn't like the midnight noise makers.

We did a lot more than usual for the holidays this year, and DH's family (11 of them) came for a visit.

We went to a local steakhouse for dinner and are now home in our jammies. Going to break out the champagne at midnight and DH is watching episodes of The Killing on Netflix and I am listening to Twilight Zone episodes on SyFy.

Have a wonderful celebration for 2015.

That's what we did, too Smile Loved the one with William Shatner and the yeti-thing on the plane wing.

Re: How are you celebrating New Year?

Everyone sounds like they had a nice NYE. Ours was really nice. The food was great! To be honest, while I had a great time, I would have had just as good of a time at home but I always enjoy seeing Biltmore at Christmas time. It is just spectacular. We had a great dinner, one of the best I have had in a while. They have a great chef there and the service was impeccable. We had brunch the next day that was out of this world also.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves! I think it is so fun to hear what everyone is doing, what is on the menu and where they plan to spend their evenings. Not only is it just interesting to hear all the details, it also gives me great ideas!

We are going to Asheville, NC and taking a tour of Biltmore Estate then we are celebrating NYE at the Inn at Biltmore. We are going to get all dressed up in tuxes and gowns. It will be nice. We are all looking forward to it. It will be me, my husband, my daughter, SIL, grandson, mom, sister, niece and brother in law.

On NY day we have reservations at the spa for massages and facials.

Irshgrl, sounds wonderful and wishing you a great time. It's fun getting all dressed up; be sure to take some pictures. The spa sounds great; wish I could join you?

Hope you are feeling much better and how is Ginger doing? We took down our tree, etc. yesterday as we are adopting a new puppy on NY day.

Hello there stranger! I haven't seen you in a while. I hope you had a great New Years Eve (and a great year) Oh, that is so exciting getting a new puppy. Please put a pic of him up if you can. I still haven't taken down our tree yet. Probably next week. I get a little depressed when we take down all of our Christmas decorations. It looks so blah. I am feeling great (thanks for asking) and I do have a picture of our new girl. It comes with a cute story. My daughter, SIL and grandson stayed over my house for about 3 nights around Christmas because I had some family in from out of town. She wanted to spend extra time with them and to be there in case I needed extra help. She stayed in her old bedroom with her husband and the baby and the dog just loves my daughter so much, he slept with her every night. I got one of those pac and plays for when my daughter is here with the baby, so he has his own little crib, a place to change him and place to take naps. They would put the pac and play next to their bed and the dog would start off sleeping with them and then hop in the crib with the baby. They would wake up and the dog was in the pac and play with him. I didn't get a pic of that but the day after my daughter left to go back to her house, I couldn't find the dog anywhere. I looked all over the house and thought he had gotten outside because I couldn't find him anywhere. I was terrified. Finally I thought check my daughters room upstairs. There he was laying on her bed. He missed her and went up to her room. It was so cute.

I picked up comfort food, chicken fried steak with fries and salad with a coke to drink. It is cold and I'll be curling on the couch watching TV. Now that I'm retired, I stay up really late, so this will be my first year in a long time that I won't go out of the year and into the new one asleep. I'm a little excited.

Chicken fried steak is my moms all time favorite dinner. She just loves that. Think I will make that for her this week.

Hi! I have some pictures of her, but don't have any idea how to post one. I don't have photobucket, and I think that's the only way to do it here?

Thanks for sharing your story and that is a great picture of her; I think her name is Ginger?

I'm glad to hear you are feeling much better and yes, we took the tree down too as we didn't want her to be afraid of it and get into playing with some of the lower ornaments.

If I can find a way to post her pic, I will. She is a tri colored girl and she's an aussie if that helps. We originally wanted to get a rescue one and the 2 that we found online were so cute; one of them was already adopted and the other was located in NH which is a very very long drive, so that was not an option. My back wouldn't take quite that long of a drive.

Thanks for the update; always good to 'see' you here. Smiley Happy

I signed up for photobucket. It only took a few minutes and I uploaded the photo onto there and then copied it onto here. I am not good with that stuff either. I think John (hckynut) is the one who helped me with that. I may still have his directions as I copied and saved them. He really spelled it out in laymans terms so even I could understand.

When you say Aussie, do you mean Australian Shephard? I love the tricolor. Yes, NH would be a long ride even with a good back. If it is an Australian Shephard they are pretty high energy so the ride would have been rough for the puppy too! They are the smartest dogs! My friend has one and that dog is just so smart and cute. He does all kinds of tricks and loves loves loves to play frisbee!
