Re: How are people coping. with their losses?

Really?!  They are just grateful to be alive and hopefully with their families.  Food, shelter and medications are what matters not where their QVC packages are or what the TSV is!  I don't understand you at all @Puzzle Piece

My area has been pummeled with large hail and wind storms this year. The damages are costly and some people have been displaced temporarily yet indefinitely from their homes. In my case I've had large out-of-pocket expenses on yard cleanup from the storms not to mention the cost of a roof, siding and paint. I have a high insurance deductible. Money is not being spent on homeshopping. I can guarantee that.

@SilleeMee   Sorry that you have had to deal with these storms.  Hopefully, you are up and running and the major damage is in the past.

.....with difficulty and a tremendous sense of loss.  So much need in Maui....housing, food, consolation, hope.  Hopefully, they will receive support during this challenging time.  We need manpower stepping in from county, state, and feds....now.

Of course, QVC is a nonevent when surviving at this level of devastation.

It really is amazing how ordinary citizens quickly and efficiently come forward and unite under such devastating circumstances to help in any and every way humanly possible.

One article I read talked about how -- on top of everything else -- some old average income families of Lahaina are afraid they will be pushed out when the town is rebuilt.

The stories on our local news are so sad.  I feel like I haven't stop crying since last Wednesday from all the devastation.  Now more & more people are starting to talk about their experiences.  One I heard today was a man had to jump out of his car and run for his life because his car was about to catch fire (MANY had to do that).  He watched his friend's car, 2 people & 2 dogs die because their car blew up.  The fire moved that fast and they were trying to escape it.  Y'all it is so sad.  Bodies that they are finding are in little groups; people huddled together in their last terrifying moments of life.  They couldn't escape it.  Also, walking through the rubble, some of the rubble is human remains.  Many they will never find because their bodies are nothing but ashes.

Time is just a drop in the bucket compared to eternity. It isn’t how long you live that matters; it is how well you are prepared to die. ~~Colonel Robert B. Thieme, Jr.

Re: How are people coping. with their losses?

When life held troubled times and had me down on my knees

There's always been someone to come along and comfort me

A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand

A phone call from a friend just to say I understand

But ain't it kind of funny at the dark end of the road

That someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope

Oh, I believe there are angels among us

Sent down to us from somewhere up above

They come to you and me in our darkest hours

To show us how to live, to teach us how to give

To guide us with the light of love

They wear so many faces, show up in the strangest places

To grace us with their mercy in our time of need

@jackiejenny,

I was just singing that song to myself tonightSmiley Happy

"If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew. Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains? can you paint with all the colors of the wind?"
