@Mmsfoxxie wrote:@NativeJax, I used to laugh at people taking pictures of their food and whatever thing that they bought, lol. But my daughter -in-law of about 18 does this and I'm so used to it now that it's normal. They live in Hawaii so I get to see dishes that I don't normally see in restaurants. I sort of feel that I'm with them when they go on a dinner date or visit some scenic place. I vicariously went on a luau with them once. Studded pig and everything. In my dreams, lol.
When my husband and I go to a nice restaurant, I have the intention of taking a picture of my dinner but I never do. You're right, it's for the younger people.
Just to add to what I said above about how nice FB can be....my daughter-in-law just Messengered me pictures of her songram that she took this morning! Up to the minute news. I was so happy to see my little 8 week old grandbaby.

I have an account but I'm not very active at all. If I want to,say something to someone I private message them. I don't like the concept at all. I don't like my business out there. One night we went to an event and some woman that we didn't even know took pictures and posted them. By 8:30 the next morning people were calling me and my friend to tell us that they saw the pictures and knew where we were. We flipped! And as far so called "friends"I don't need to count by number how many friends I have because when it comes down to it I can probably count on one hand who would be a true friend. I know folks that spend all their time to look at everyone's pages "just to see". I like,to,follow certain pages, pages that make this world a little better place.

As I tend to work to frequent deadlines and get overloaded pretty often, Facebook isn't a good fit for me. Rather than have my friends and family think I am not keeping up with their news and issues, I prefer not to be on the site at all.
To me, the privacy options are not adequate. I have been on the site twice--once to try it out and once to post family pics for a reunion--but don't use it otherwise.

Why would you assume it's something people need? Some people do have more friends than others, that's just life, no reason to insult them.

My cousin who was like a big sister to me growing up just joined fb yesterday. She swore for years that she didn't want or need it. She called me last night happy and excited about it. She had noticed that she was looking at her husband's page just about everyday to see about other family members so she decided to join. She already knows about what to post, privacy settings and what information to share.

I check it everyday but really don't post about myself or put up photos. I like seeing my grand on Facebook and how my children are doing. That and keeping up with high school friends make it a very enjoyable read for me. It's fun seeing my beautiful best friend from high school living out her dream. She has three homes....one in Jamaica and she owns three companies that she started up herself. She never ceases to amaze me and this way I get to read about her life..... Many of my friends are extremely active and I love living vicariously through them. LOL (just kidding)

I try not to be. Problem I have people who post events that I have to go to. It would seem they could just email me. And I play one game to put me to sleep some nights, all linked to Facebook.
Frankly I am tired of knowing everyones every step on a daily basis.
And political stuff, yes I have my opinion but I am simply not interested in discussing it or even listening to it.

@Noel7. I'm sorry you interpreted it that way I had no intentions of being insulting. It's my personal feeling that I'm conveying. I have an friend requests from people I haven't seen in decades and didn't necessarily consider them friends back then so why the heck would I accept a request now? IMO most folks in the past belong there.

I use facebook daily. Mostly to read news, follow musicians, movie news,tv shows, and follow family members. I also play some games on there. I rarely post, only if there is a special event or something I post pictures. I dont post my daily business!
