yes, i knew how MARYLAND got its name. we have so many towns and counties that were named after aristocrats. even our state flag contains the crests of two families....the calvert family and the crossland family. back in the day we actually learned about our state in history classes.

Arizona: The Spaniards tried to translate from the Aztec and/or Pima language.......and the meaning is not clear. Could be "silver-bearing" or "little spring"..............

Brings back 7th grade social studies when the whole year was devoted to learning about Texas. I loved that class.
