A close family member is facing a long surgery and treatment in the best medical center in our state. We obviously will be there for days on end. A week probably.
This is not elective.
What happens when/if someone with this virus shows up and begins treatment in their ER?
Anyone have any advice. This will be in the next ten days. We will be staying in a hotel close by.

@wonderfulworld I hope all goes well for your family member.
Try not to focus on the "what if"-I'm sure the medical center is aware and prepared.
You cannot control what happens in your ER; talk to the medical team treating your family member with your concerns and/or talk to the patient/family care folks who handle any concerns.
It will be ok.

I would make sure to wash hands often..bring sanitizer to clean surfaces in the hotel room.I think I would also bring as much of my own foood as possible to minimize others who may be ill from handling the food.

We used to be fairly self-sufficient, more or less.
I'd like to know how we became so dependent on C. for just about everything.
Surely we could have remained on the path of safety and quality first; not quantity. We would have been used to it.
Maybe 'better off', in the long run, in the scheme of things.
Well, just thinking out loud, right or wrong.

this is why bringing more manufacturing back here is a good idea.

Safe as far as what?
Quality?
That it could be harboring a virus?
That's an awfully long time and a long way for a virus to survive on the surface of the shipments.

Probably a lot safer than the lettuce we get from CA.

Well I'd explain it to you, but it would all be politics.

I am guessing the safety of China imports is as safe as it has always been...which is questionable on some things. Biggest change will be the supply chain.
