Re: How My Shopping Changed in 10 Years

I have a hard time finding nice pajamas these days that I can afford!  I love cotton blend ones and now it seems most are made of that slinky polyester knit stuff that I find to be hot and sticky on the skin.  Also, so many pajama bottoms have those jogger cuffs around the bottom which I hate.  I like full leg pajama bottoms and long sleeve tops.  Sounds simple but it's really not!

@Twins Mom

I feel the same.  I used to joke and say that shopping was my sport!  I have always loved a good bargain, too.  When I worked, I would go to the mall and stores every day on my lunch hour and scout out deals and bargains.  I miss doing this a lot.  Some people hate shopping and will avoid it at all cost.  Not me!  I have always enjoyed going to the malls and browsing, people watching, etc.  Plus, there is nothing like seeing items for real.  Most of the stores I so loved and shopped at are also gone so I feel your pain!  I truthfully don't enjoy shopping on line but I do it because I often can't find any place to buy what I need or want.  It's just a necessity thing, not a fun thing.  I used to get in my car on a day off and shop the whole day!!! I agree -- it was relaxing for me also.

OFF TOPIC     but if you no longer need/want the clothes in your closet, do you not have a hard time letting them go?

I have several things hanging in my closet that I have not worn for a while but the fabric is so nice and a cute design, I have trouble sending them to donation.

I have a hard time with that. I think hard before donating. I have the room for storage so no problem. I have an aunt that used to say if it doesn't eat anything, keep it.  Good advice.

Real change in the last few years.

Today I broke a hair claw thingy and realize I can't figure out a fast way to get another.  First world problem for sure.

I am going into town per usual each day for yoga, but can't bring myself to enter a B&M anymore.

Have a car, gas, cover for yoga pants, credit card, but no nerve.

@Still Raining - why won't you go in a store?

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@AngelPuppy1 I have found great sleepware at:

Eileen West--lots of all cotton, good priceson sale items they last forever in all cotton.

Old Navy, Lands End and LL Bean--lots of variety and a number of all cotton and good cotton blends in variety of styles and sizes.

Company Store--Expensive but better at sales--all cotton.

Costso has really good and inexpensive 4 piece cotton sets!

Good luck!  I am loving what I have bought from the above--and I have to have petites too!

I'm sorry that your daughter moved away and you can't enjoy your shopping trips together any more!  If we lived near each other, we could go shopping together!  I sure know how you feel.  My Mom and I used to go to the mall sometimes and we used to have such fun.  Also, I don't have any close friends any more to go shopping with.  Either they moved far away, they passed away, or aren't able to go out shopping, or other reasons.  For me, it isn't always about buying, but just enjoying the experience of being out and browsing, seeing people, etc.  We have one mall left nearby and it's on its last leg.  Yes, very sad for me because I love malls and shopping in real stores!

@AngelPuppy1   Totally relate - two good friends have retired and moved south.  As I have gotten older friendships are more important than buying...but I still like to do the lunch and shopping thing or just sitting on the porch and catching up.  I find as I get older, friends are much harder to make.  Even tho I work 3 days a week/it is with my husband as we are self employed.  I need another outlet!

Re: How My Shopping Changed in 10 Years

My husband will be the first to laugh if I try to claim I'm frugal. . . but I am on some things. I just refust to $$$$ for a nightgown or PJs!  LOL!! So we are heading to a couple of stores this weekend, which I seldom do, to look for 'jammies'!  Yes I am with you @AngelPuppy1 , I don't like slinky poly it is too hot and I like the baggy bottoms for comfort too I'm a restless sleeper!

@Mom2Dogs  - I've also had a tough time letting some things go - especially when I think of the $$ spent.  I then think that someone out there can get joy out of wearing these clothes that are just hanging in the closet.  Someone can wear it and put it to good use.  Smiley Happy

Re: How My Shopping Changed in 10 Years

If we don't shop a tthe local stores in our communities they will be gone for good.

I don't know about you but looking at empty malls is depressing for me.

Its nice to get out of the house.  I don't buy much either but if I need something I look locally before hitting up the big A.
