It totally depends on where you go and what kind of experience you want.
I can go to a budget Cinemark theater and see Spider-Man: Far From Home tonight for $2.50 with no snacks. (Spider-Man: Far From Home is already out on DVD.)
A regular Cinemark is $12.00 ($14.83 with the online fee of $1.70 and tax)
and $7.75 for a matinee ($10.23 with online fee and tax) and $14.83 for a
I can go to an IPIC luxury theater and get a ticket for Maleficient tonight for $28. (I can save $14 by paying an annual $45 membership fee and then paying $14 per ticket all year.) A matinee is the same price.
I can get a ticket for Maleficient at the Alamo Drafthouse for $14.71 (minus $1.59 if I buy there vs online) for an evening show and $12 (also minus1.59 if I buy there vs online) for a matinee. I usually go to the Alamo, where you can get a meal while you watch.

I bring a can of caffeine free diet coke, ( in my purse) because they don't sell it there
