Re: How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

The price of beef in the St. Louis area is about the same as what's been mentioned - around $14 to $15 per pound. As much as I'd like a nice steak, it's just too expensive. Plus, I don't like a lot of chicken, so I'm not buying a lot of fresh meat.

Watermelon seems to be abundant around here, so it's very affordable. I don't buy a whole melon for the 2 of us....just a quarter of a melon that my grocer sells.

@Luvsmyfam, I have very fond memories of Muscatine melons! I've had good cantaloupe over the years, but there is nothing as sweet and juicy as a Muscatine melon!

Re: How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

I bought a large seedless watermelon yesterday for $4.99

I bought two ribeye steaks, they were $14.99 a pound, but were marked down for a quick sale and I actually paid $8.99 a pound.

I buy whole NY strip steaks and have them cut 3/4inch thick. I have them in my freezer all year around. They are currently $7.99 a pound, but more if you buy them individually.

Re: How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

My husband does most of the grocery shopping for us but I have seen the ads and depends on the cut of meat,  but varies.  Wait for the sales I say.  Watermelon not badly priced.

We don't eat out and enjoy cooking at home.  So if something is priced a little higher I figure cheaper than eating out.  Just the two us and one steak between us two as well.

We do take out every so often.

I've been buying, very large, whole, dark green (whatever variety they are they are solid dark green not striped like usual), native (CT) watermelons at my farm stand... $8 each. WELL worth it!! The sweetest, juiciest watermelons I've ever tasted, lasted until the end, no seeds. I love watermelon. 🍉😍

Watermelon if it iisn't on sale is around 7 dollars. Oddly it hasn't been on sale as much this year. Used to be every week someone had it for 2.99.

Sirlion is around $8 and ribeye around $16-17.

I priced strip streaks at BJ's the other day for our group. They cost $11.99 per pound.

Re: How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

This week here in E. Texas the ribeye's are $14.99, T-bones, $12.49, New York strip $!4.99 as well.  My store is offering this week their own New York strip for $6.99 a pd.

Whole seedless large watermelons are $4.49 a piece while the mini watermelons are $1.99 each. Not being charged by the pound for the melon.

Re: How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

I don't feed a family anymore so 1 lb of steak would be 3 meals for me---and if I want steak, I will buy it--but prices are out of control and I do look for sales----I buy those tubs of cut  watermelon--a whole one would go bad before I ate it.
