How Much Are Watermelons and Steak Where You Are?

I just got back from the grocery store, and watermelon here is $0.20/lb, and steak is a whopping $15.00/lb!😮

Needless to say, I got the melon, but passed on the steak.

It wasn't even thick steak!

I haven't had watermelon in about two years, so I decided to splurge and get one.

I've been buying the baby watermelons at Whole Foods and pay about $4.99 each.  I can't handle a huge watermelon in my fridge and we can't eat them all at once--no matter how many kids are here.  It would go to waste.

Watermelons are 2.99 each.  Choice ribeye steak is 15.49 lb.

Beef, except for hamburger meat, is off my menu.  It's okay as I prefer chicken.

I'm in WV, and walked away from ribeyes last week priced at $13.99 lb.

We have enjoyed several watermelons this summer, priced at $4.99.   They were large enough to cut and share with my mom.   Cantaloupes have been very nice as well, usually $5.00 for 2.

@Anonymous032819   Funny you mentioned steaks.  DD had yesterday off and took a day trip to central PA. She got 2 NY strips at a place we like.  $19.00 for 2 good size steaks. She also got some sweet corn on the way home.

That was last night's supper.

@Anonymous032819  "It wasn't even a thick steak"  doesn't make sense. It is priced per pound. If it's $15/lb it's that price no matter if it is thin (then it costs less) or thick (then it costs more) but that's the price.

I don't buy meat so can't help with that, but whole seedless watermelons are usually $5.99 and sometimes on sale for $3.99.

I know that it's sold by the pound and not thickness.

I like my steaks thick. Inch thick. But you have to admit that you have seen steak that was 1/4 inch in thickness, no matter what the price per pound was.
