We have two minis - one at home and one at the office. Both are three years old and still going strong. I have to admit that I've done absolutely no maintenance on them. When they do fail at some point, we'll probably replace them with the same, since we've have absolutely no complaints. This has been the ideal choice for two people who drink only one cup at a time. I buy medium or dark roast coffee, occasionally use the "my k cup" but mostly love the convenience of k cups. Since I never use plastic water bottles, I'm probably adding less plastic to the landfills than most.

I just saw a commercial for GE. They now have a Keurig built into one of their refrigerators. I hope they've improved it and made it to last for the refrigerator. It would be so frustration to have it die when it was built in to a large appliance.

While I've never had one break down, that's insane. I'm not a big fan of multiuse things for the same reason you stated. Half the people I know with automatic ice makers don't work.

As far as weak and watery coffee...it takes some experimenting to get the right blend you prefer to avoid this. Keurig sells sample packs so you don't have to commit to one you don't care for.
I have found that medium to bold roasts take care of the the weak, watery taste.
We like it because some drink regular and the some drink decaf.

I have the small personal one that you can only dump one cup of water in to make 1 cup of coffee. I like it because I'm the only one that drinks coffee in my house.
My biggest issue with the Keurig was the plastic k-cups which are bad for the environment plus I don't personally like drinking something that came out of a plastic container. I find some of the k-cups to have a chemical taste.
I started to buy the San Francisco Bay Company coffee. It's grown responsibly, traded fairly, is better for the environment and no plastic container.

So I appreciate when a person does his or her small part to help the environment and make a better future for our children and grandchildren. And, the problem with pods is that even if they are recyclable (and I don't know that they are), the vast majority of people don't bother.
I don't know about the pods but the k-cups are NOT recyclable The guy who came up with them has said he's sorry he ever did due to the fact that you can't recycle the k-cups.
People aren't going to "worry about 1 little k-cup?" Everyone has to do his or her part. I recycle everything that I can and together we all make a difference. Imagine if everyone had that attitude?

I don't own a Keurig, I don't need one and I don't want one. I know how to make coffee, tea ,hot chocolate and soup. I have a Mr Coffee that I bought from Walmart years ago. I know how to make coffee, I even now how to meaure the coffee. If somone gave me one as a gft, I'd exchange it or save it and re-gift it. I suppose I am just not a "gadget" person. I'd rather spend my money on other things.

There is also the option to buy the My k-cup and put your own coffee in it, in the amount that satisfies you. I don't understand people complaining about the weak/watery coffee. Stop buying the k-cups.

I do not own a Keurig and have used for many years a Mr. Coffee Jr. pot that was purchased from Kohl's. It has only died once-- the pump failed over time but the coffee pot was still usable so now that one is a spare in case the current pot happens to break.
I am not a big coffee drinker and neither is Mr. JustJazzmom but we both like different coffees and arise at different times so the Mr. Coffee Jr. pot works out well for the both of us.
My Aunt has a Keurig and I find that the coffee is not as strong as I like it and her machine cannot adjust for coffee strength.

@Ms Virgo wrote:I agree with you I had 3 ALL 3 died after 1 1/2 years or 2 years. I did everything correct, water filter, filter water, and descaled it with White vinegar. To me the coffee is not good in these machine they are weak and watery. I tried different sizes and brew settings, and coffee strength and it's still not good. Went back to a Regular coffee maker Hamilition and Beach, coffee taste better and it's cheaper than the K-cups. Never again! And I got all 3 from the Q. And yes I am a coffee snob! lol
Yep same here. Experimented with ALL kinds of K-cups and all my brew strength settings (those were a joke- watery to less watery, lol) and then, of course, used my own coffee beans and experimented with those and still just the same watery coffee that always had a littleb it of muck on the bottom in the cup. And yes, I did the whole water filter, cleaning, descaling, vinegar blah blah blah. So much work and yet never made good coffee and STILL konked out. Same with the one I bought my parents.
Out of all of us, my mom was the only one who was fine with the coffee but my mom likes weak coffee. We actually tease her that she likes coffee flavored water and not true coffee. So yeah, the Keurig suited her just fine, lol.
